A judicial investigation was opened on November 9, 2021 in Paris following the complaint with the constitution of civil party for "forgery and use of forgery in aggravated public writing" against Sorbonne University, filed on August 20 by lawyer Arash Derambarsh , whose thesis supposedly plagiarized had been canceled in July 2020. The investigation was entrusted to the tough Nathalie Turquey, judge who was recently illustrated by a stroke of brilliance, by piercing the case of "Hail", a An iconic “cold case” that had been waiting to be resolved for more than thirty-five years.
In February 2020, Maître Arash Derambarsh, also deputy mayor of Courbevoie (Hauts-de-Seine), was accused by an anonymous Twitter account, “Thèse et Synthèse”, of having plagiarized his law thesis, defended in December 2015 at Paris-1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University.
These allegations, which he contests "with the greatest virulence", provoke the opening of a disciplinary investigation by Sorbonne University.
The procedure ended in July 2020 in the cancellation of the thesis, which had allowed the elected Hauts-de-Seine to become a lawyer.
Consequence: in April 2021, Arash Derambarsh was struck off the Paris bar.
A sentence which he immediately appealed, which allows him today to keep the dress, pending the decision of the Paris Court of Appeal.
The words of a "distorted" witness?
In his complaint, brought by his lawyer Maître Yassine Bouzrou, Arash Derambarsh specifically targets the members of the disciplinary commission which canceled his thesis. Eight teachers from Paris-1, whom he suspects of having "distorted" the words of his thesis director, Bruno Dondero, made during his hearing on March 3, 2020. In its 40-page report, the disciplinary commission considered that the thesis was an "assembly of texts published by other authors", noting "a plagiarism rate of 76%" of all the work.
Arash Derambarsh, for his part, pleads good faith and admits errors in methodology.
Afterwards, Sorbonne-University had sent a report to justice.
In the fall of 2020, the Paris prosecutor's office opened an investigation, entrusted to the brigade for the repression of delinquency in persons (BRDP).
Investigations are still ongoing to this day.
Finally, the person concerned lodged a complaint for “cyberstalking” last September against the “Thèse et Synthèse” Twitter account.
