Those who do not watch the news releases do not feel "chaos" Corona

The complaints are good for ratings, so the TV channels will tell us every day about a different "default" and claim that the government has lost control of the plague.

All this while the opposite is true.

Meanwhile, during puzzling minutes yesterday on News 12, Yair Shrek had to defend his mind that there is no chaos

Over 60,000 people have died worldwide as a result of exposure to the corona virus in 2022, which began less than two weeks ago. As of this writing, Israel has contributed 28 citizens to the global census. Each of them is a world in and of itself for his family and friends, but in the midst of a global plague it is a negligible number. How negligible? In May 2019, a few months before the corona emerged in China, the local health ministry announced that every day 22 Israelis die from smoking-related diseases. 10% of the dead, experts said, died as a result of "passive smoking." In other words: it is likely that many more Israelis died in 2022 from smoking than from Corona.

The comparison between the numbers does not come to strengthen the claim of the delusional corona deniers, but to clarify one thing: when it comes to eradicating the corona plague, Israel is doing the right thing.

In the US, at the moment, more people are hospitalized in hospitals than at the height of the winter of 2021. Half of Europe is on its way to catching up with Corona. And with us? Mostly complaining.

One of his best speeches.

Naftali Bennett (Photo: Flash 90, Noam Rivkin Fenton)

This public sentiment is good for ratings, so TV channels will tell us every day about a different "default". The media will show us pictures of long queues for tests, will argue that the restrictions are unclear, the outline of study is delusional and the government has lost control of the plague. All this while the opposite is true. One can disagree with all the actions, certainly in retrospect, but in the end this government makes decisions, and takes dynamic steps according to the morbidity picture and the tools it has at its disposal to fight the plague.

Google remembers quite a few harsh reviews I had towards Naftali Bennett, and I still have, but the decent thing to do is to admit that in his tumultuous six months in power, he has made some very brave decisions that later turned out to be justified.

History will remember him as the man who removed the word "closure" from the lexicon, made Israel the first boasted country in the world and also the flag bearer when it comes to childhood vaccines.

Any decision he makes today will be unpopular, and it is not inconceivable that it will also be wrong, but that is part of the interest in leadership.

And yet, one can be sure that his decisions, precisely as a lame duck, come from a matter-of-fact and professional place - something that could not be said about his predecessor in office.

He has no base to disappoint, he has no long-term political alliances.

He is currently caring for his legacy, and he understands that it will be written according to the scars that the corona plague will leave on the citizens of the country.

The editions proved that we lost nothing by shortening them to an hour and a quarter.

A legitimate but arrogant claim.

Paul Simon once wrote that he gets lost if all goes well.

"It tends to confuse me because it looks so extraordinary. I can not get used to something so true," the New York Jew sang in one of his beautiful hits.

The Israeli media is probably also confused when it sees something so true, like a press conference with a hired prime minister responding to journalists' questions.

Amazing how fast you practice for good. All the journalists seem to have simply forgotten everything that happened here before the change of government in June 2021. Everyone has forgotten the complaints, justified, that the Prime Minister refuses to answer questions at press conferences, and uses them to convey political messages to the public. Which of course did not stop the media from continuing to broadcast propaganda without interruption. Last night, at a press conference with Prime Minister Bennett, News 12 - still the largest and most influential news system in Israel - decided to give up a journalistic question, and instead trolled it with videos of business owners complaining about the situation. By the way, Bennett was not impressed by the surprise, and responded to the interest of the business owners' claims.

How likely is this rather embarrassing event to happen precisely when Naftali Bennett has delivered one of his best speeches since taking office, if not the best of them all.

For the first time, he looks like the leader who promised to be in his days as a warrior oppositionist.

After two days of discussing in the studios whether or not there is chaos in the country (Saha Yair Shrek on the deviation from the systemic line, which mainly made him want to hear his opinion on the Asi Ezer affair that was silenced on his channel), Naftali Bennett came to tell the nation: The situation is not simple, even difficult, but everything is under control.

He detailed, reasoned and explained his words without shifting responsibility to anyone, and detailed the actions that the state intends to take in the future.

He made sense of many of the decisions that were presented as irrational in the media.

Mentioned the importance of protecting the adults, gave some important recommendations and gave the feeling that even if mistakes were made, the driver at the wheel was still alert and sober.

There were no sticks or tricks, just a speech, boring and gray.

For a few years we had been hoping for something dull and gray.

Had to go back and defend his thesis.

Yair Shreki (Photo: Screenshot, Keshet 12)

In the hours leading up to the press conference, News 12 engaged in betting on what Bennett was going to say in his speech.

What at first seemed like a lovable link segment, became long and weird minutes during which journalists sit on a panel and just guess what they are about to report in the next hour.

Rafi Reshef was sent to run this strange circus, Yair Shrek was required to defend his thesis that there is no chaos, the Marciano Foundation was chosen to contradict his words and complain about Bennett's speech time - and in an impressive Hollywood twist, Amit Segal is cast as the responsible adult. Affected by a political position.

He's right of course, if it matters to anyone at all.

It is amazing that until recently there has been a public debate here as to whether the editions should be shortened, as if there are not too many unnecessary hours of pseudo-news text during the day.

The Marciano Foundation explained to Yair Shrek that he is not qualified to determine that there is no "chaos" because he is single without children. This is a legitimate claim, even if somewhat arrogant. And in any case, it is true, the plague is reflected differently in the lives of different citizens by a number of metrics. Parents experience the plague otherwise single. Employees feel the economic blow differently than the self-employed. And most importantly, we may have forgotten, adults are more afraid of the disease than young people. But there may be one more element worth examining regarding the little person's attitude towards the corona: the level of exposure to the local media. In other words: people who are not exposed daily to the newscasts, do not feel the "chaos" that is described there every day.
