According to data published by Public Health France, Omicron represents nearly 90% of the approximately 265,000 daily cases as of January 9.

The number of Delta cases therefore only fell from 30,000 to 23,000 in the space of two and a half weeks.

These figures also hide a very strong regional disparity.

The south of the country was affected later by Omicron, and contamination linked to Delta remains at a fairly high level there.
