The cat and mouse tactic employed several hundreds of police: during corona protests, demonstrators and counter-demonstrators clashed. Young physicians stood protectively in front of their clinic.

Dresden: Demos against Corona measures, accompanied by a large contingent of the police.

According to the authorities, so-called “walks” were called for in several telegram groups and on some extremist platforms – starting near the university hospital.

There, medical students in white coats and with signs protectively stood in front of the premises.

O-Tones:

"We're setting a quiet sign and a peaceful sign to show a bit of presence that there is another opinion."

'Of course it's important because it affects every citizen and not just individuals.

The lateral thinkers often forget that and think that it is their own decision: ›I don’t vaccinate myself.‹ But that affects everyone in their environment.

And it's important too.

The hospitals are overcrowded and even the lateral thinkers want to be treated in the hospital if they are infected with Corona.

And I think they should get vaccinated for that.”

The police were on site with more than 1000 emergency services in Dresden - and they had a lot to do in the evening to prevent the supposed walkers from forming a larger demonstration.

Officials asked people to leave the event and checked IDs.

Thomas Geithner, spokesman for the Dresden police:

“The result, however, was that we still had a lot of people walking around here in the city, in groups, sometimes 100,150.

And whenever our task forces noticed, at least that's how you got the feeling that they separated, only to show up somewhere else fifteen minutes later.

So a bit of this term cat-and-mouse game is probably the most appropriate.«

A corona emergency regulation was still in force in Saxony on Thursday.

At that time, state law prohibited non-stationary gatherings of more than ten people.

The counter-demonstrators in white coats had also violated this regulation, according to the police.

After a short time, officials surrounded the students and took personal details.

The procedure was criticized on social networks.

The students themselves accused the police of being disproportionate.

Summary of the evening: More than 200 administrative offense proceedings, 22 of them against the students of the university clinic.

Since this Friday, 200 people have been allowed to gather again in Saxony - regardless of the incidence or level of congestion.
