Corona-Warn-App now shows a status proof

Have you been vaccinated several times and recently had a corona test? The Corona-Warn-App can now display such information in combination. The new function still has problems with the booster vaccination.

Corona warning app

The Robert Koch Institute, Deutsche Telekom and SAP have published a revised version of the Corona warning app. On Android smartphones, for example, QR codes should now be easier to read in poor lighting conditions. But the biggest change is different and also affects iPhone users. From the latest version 2.16, the warning app combines stored vaccination and recovery certificates as well as existing test certificates into a kind of current overall status. That status is displayed on the start page of the "Certificates" area, visualized with a small 3G, 3G+, 2G or 2G+ in the upper right corner of the screen, as the operators report in a blog post.

The 2G+ status in the warning app stands for people who are fully vaccinated or have recovered and who can also show a current negative test.

In the warning app, users must have a vaccination or recovery certificate and a PCR or rapid test certificate that is no more than 72 or 48 hours old for this status.

New users who only load a valid test certificate from a negative quick test into the app will see the status 3G - which would allow access to 3G events. On the other hand, the app displays a 3G Plus status if users submit a negative PCR test that is not older than 72 hours.

Although the new status function of the warning app offers a better overview in the app, it does not replace the previously valid procedure for accessing a 2G Plus event: the QR code must also be included in the warning app in the future proof of vaccination or recovery and the QR code for the test before admission.

In addition, the identity card must still be presented to ensure that the proof in the app is also valid for the person who is presenting it.

Booster vaccinations do not appear in the status yet

According to a decision by the federal and state health ministers, vaccinated people and those with booster vaccinations do not have to present a current test at events with 2G+.

Anyone who has been boosted is almost automatically 2G+, that's what politics decided.

In the warning app, however, three vaccinations are currently only converted into a 2G display.

The app makers say that they are working on ensuring that the software will include certificates from booster vaccinations accordingly in the future.

Users can find out whether their version of the app is up to date by searching for the warning app in Apple's App Store or Google's Play Store.

If your own app version is outdated and has not yet been automatically updated, the app can be updated manually using a button that is then displayed there.

If an update to version 2.16 is still not possible, the only solution is to wait: The new update should be made available to all users within 48 hours.
