Christiane F., the retiree killed at a market in the city of Tiznit near Agadir last Saturday, used to stay there

“She never had a problem in Tiznit, until the day she met this possessed man who killed her”.

The report is hard and cold and her 58-year-old daughter has only sweet words for her mother, whom she has just lost last Saturday in “atrocious circumstances”.

Christiane F., 79, died of stab wounds by a 31-year-old man at the market in Tiznit, near Agadir in Morocco, last weekend.

The suspect, who also injured a Belgian national, was arrested and committed to a psychiatric hospital.

It is the Moroccan anti-terrorist police which is in charge of the investigation.

“My mum used to go alone to a newsagent five minutes walk from the campsite near the town market.

This is where she crossed paths with this unbalanced person, ”explains her daughter to us.

Her husband, Stella's father, had meanwhile stayed at the municipal campsite where this couple, united for nearly 60 years, had once again put down their suitcases.

“It's a city they knew well.

They were walking around confidently there, ”adds their grieving daughter.

Indeed, the couple liked this corner of the extreme south of Morocco, which had become the rallying point of their group of retired friends like them, who had come so far from the four corners of France in motorhomes.

“It was the base for their trips to Morocco.

It was a special year, since my parents had arrived in Tangier just before the borders closed.

As a result, all their friends were stuck in France, ”says their eldest daughter.

The couple therefore spent the Christmas and New Year holidays there, without their usual tribe, but had established relations with motorhomes from the municipal campsite who had also managed to return to the Cherifian kingdom.

“They never left each other”

Christiane and her husband have had a full life.

Parents of two girls and a boy, they also have five grandchildren.

The two eternal lovers lived for a long time in the Paris region before choosing to go down to the sun, in the small town of Muy, in the Var.

The couple owned a plumbing business and then a farm campsite, but they also traded in property.

“They never left each other.

They've been working and living together 24 hours a day for 59 years,” their child still raves.

“My mother made friends easily with everyone. She easily engaged in conversation,” Stella recalls modestly. "My parents had thus become friends with the Wali of the region

(the equivalent of the regional president, editor's note)

during their walks", adds the fifty-year-old. "Make a nice article, she deserved it" she slips, moved.

Stella also cares deeply for her father, now a widower, who has had to deal with the unthinkable since last Saturday.

He should be back in France this Friday.

"We managed to repatriate our father," she breathes.

“As for the French authorities, they have been of great help.

And the Moroccan governor did everything to help us.

We have no grievances vis-à-vis the Moroccan state or Moroccans.

We cannot condemn a people for being enlightened, ”said their daughter, who wears a grieving Marianne as a profile photo on her social network account.
