DAZN is getting more expensive: the streaming service will soon cost twice as much

Anyone who likes to watch live sports should pay significantly more than before for the DAZN streaming service from February. In a few months, the price increase should affect not only new customers but also existing customers.

The sports streaming service DAZN increases the prices again.

The standard subscription, which can be canceled monthly, will cost EUR 29.99 from February 1 instead of the previous EUR 14.99, it said on Tuesday.

The annual subscription will also become more expensive in just one week: in future it will cost 274.99 euros instead of 149.99 euros.

According to DAZN, the price increase applies to new customers and those “who reactivate their terminated membership”.

Existing subscribers will initially pay the current price until July 31st.

How much they have to pay afterwards has not yet been clarified, according to the streaming service.

A package for many sports

DAZN recently invested heavily in media rights.

Since the beginning of the current season, the service has been able to show Bundesliga games live on Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons, among other things.

In addition, almost all Champions League games are part of the offer.

But the DAZN offer has long since included more than just football games: Customers also pay – whether they want to or not – for broadcasting rights from areas such as basketball, American football, boxing and darts.

The pay-TV provider, which has been active in Germany since August 2016, last increased the costs for its monthly subscription last spring.

At that time, 11.99 euros per month became 14.99 euros.

Since then, the annual subscription has cost 149.99 euros, previously it was 119.99 euros.

Until 2019, DAZN charged 9.99 euros for a monthly subscription.

When asked by a Twitter user why the subscription will suddenly cost twice as much as before, the DAZN account replies that the plan was "to start the season with a very low price to give fans the opportunity to give to get to know DAZN «.

With the current price adjustment, DAZN will now "justify the increasing costs for rights, content and thus the actual value of our offer".

It remains to be seen whether this explanation can calm Livesport fans who have been annoyed by the price increase.
