The new and controversial addition to Facebook's Messenger Israel today

A new feature in the instant messaging app from Meta will alert you when someone takes a screenshot of your missing message • In addition, it is now also possible to combine stickers and gifs in the encrypted calls

Plotting to take a screenshot of an encrypted conversation on Facebook Messenger and think no one will know?

You really should think again, to avoid unpleasantness.

Tonight (Thursday), Mark Zuckerberg announced a series of updates and improvements to Facebook's instant messaging app, most of which are related to the encrypted call option.

First of all, and this is the most significant addition - senders of encrypted calls will be notified if and when the recipient takes a screenshot of a disappearing message (a message deleted from the chat after a pre-set period of time, between one and five seconds).

The idea behind the move is that disappearing messages should be "for your eyes only", so if someone tries to take a picture and captures it for any reason, they are probably betraying the sender's trust - or not the intended recipient at all.

And yes, it's true that you can always take a picture of the missing message with another phone's camera, but this is a completely dirty trick.

In addition, from now on - or at least very soon since the new features will be added to all users in the coming weeks (so if they are not yet available you do not have to panic) - stickers, gifs and emojis of comments can also be included in the encrypted conversations, because why not ?

Correspondents in Shoshu also deserve to enjoy.
