Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, lots of snow and a thermos with tea. That's all it takes for a perfect day at the end

Snow games in the ruby forest

Storm Alphis froze Greece and came to us relatively reconciled, with impressive but not excessive amounts of precipitation.

We could not help but go up north, to relish

Scandinavia is here ... There is nothing like a ruby forest in the snow (Photo: Rami Gilboa)

The trip north flew by, a group of jeeps gathering for a snowy encounter - Joy was already at the top of Mount Hermon, Uzi and my uncle gathered north, I too on the way.

Route 6 flew under the wheels of the new Wrangler, heated and eloquent as ever.

At the end of the road we descended to a mountain trail, crossed streams that went insane and dipped in puddles of tropical camel, hoping not to get stuck in traffic jams on the road.

At the foot of the plateau we encountered some congestion, workers removed fallen trees from the road and hopped, we are in a ruby forest!

As every year, as in every storm, a ruby forest is a coveted abode in which hundreds of ancient oak trees grow, the blanket of snow doing them a magical favor.

The Wrangler Rubicon has extreme space capabilities, relative to what is required here.

I am always happy for the power reserve that is always available, and for the mechanical strength of the rugged SUV (Photo: Rami Gilboa)

The life cycle of Israeli snow

In many places in the world, winter storms occur, they are usually much wilder than in our country - in the French Alps, in the Rocky Mountains, in the huge plains of Wisconsin or in New York.

The storms cut off entire parts of the country, killing people, talking about them on the news.

But in Wisconsin, snow is no surprise;

You know there is one every year, many times a season.

Joy Byrne arrived with the mythical Seven, 1981 model, what will the silver Rubicon look like, in forty years?

How will the teeth of time survive? (Photo: Rami Gilboa)

And with us?

We have snow-no-snow, "catch" in Jerusalem or it will melt, will it be enough or it will fall too much, will roads be blocked, will there be snow left to sit on, or will everything melt after two hours?

Hence the sense of urgency of Israeli snow lovers - even when a decent amount of snow falls, you know your time is limited.

They will immediately block the road, then the snow will melt, and in the meantime thousands of cars will occupy the white spaces ...

Wrangler Rubicon, the right tool for the job

It is possible to ride in the snow with all kinds of SUVs, even with a 4X4 crossover, but I like the safety margins that the Wrangler gives me.

Its surface capabilities are several times greater than required, it is massive and resistant to damage from hidden rocks.

Even if I get stuck on a hidden obstacle, he will know how to get out.

Despite this, I was happy to see in the rearview mirror Uzi's patrol and Amira Kadouri;

I knew that Uzi's winch could pull me out of nowhere, I knew that Amira's soup pot would still warm us up sometime, later in the trip ...

Uzi and Amira Kadouri are sworn and committed field travelers.

Ruby Forest was amazing and enchanted, as usual.

Since we arrived early, the snow was still pristine and white.

Despite 40-50 inches of snow, we had no trouble recognizing the marked trails in the forest, we made a calm axis opening, a great pleasure.

From the trees occasionally emerged hikers on foot and in cars, all in rotation and consideration.

This time I discovered a new phenomenon - people who chose to spend the night in the thick of the snowy forest.

Some set up cheap ones, others slept inside the vehicle, increased to make a group that stretched a tent between several cars, and lit a wood-burning stove that warmed the night.

In one of the corners we saw a forester and next to it a tent and a flickering fire, the truth - I was jealous of them, this too is a small dream from my personal list.

His day will come.

I was going to sleep at night in the snow, but it didn't work out.

On the next visit, I will try harder (Photo: Rami Gilboa)

The people of Israel are coming

As the hours passed we headed east toward the wires, farmland, and more secluded places.

From there we became a convoy of 7-8 vessels.

We found a large snowfield, and got ready for a winter meal.

Uzi and Amira heated a pot of fine soup (lentils, groats, I no longer remember what treasures were bubbling there), Ronit pulled out a thermos of tea, finished off with a marble cake, and arranged to return home.

On the way I made myself a farewell parking space from the white silence - I returned to the ruby forest, moved away from the hustle and bustle of the hikers, stopped the engine and sat quietly.

Just quietly.

I heard no people and engines, only the occasional chirping of a bird, or a gust of wind that knocked to the ground snow that had accumulated on the branches.

It was worth coming.

Today is already Friday, most of the snow is still in place.

Roads will be flooded with cars, 'snowmen' will melt, Druze will sell pitas with brick and hyssop.

It will be crowded but charming, I highly recommend visiting the Golan Heights now, even if you do not have a Rubicon, even if there are a lot of people around.

Fifty yards away from the road, and you're in local Lapland.

Thanks to the "sergeant" importer Jeep, who lent us the formidable Rubicon.
