The recent rise in gasoline prices is affecting everyone, even if you do not have a car and even if it is electric.

The rise in the price of the expensive liquid that drives our economy - literally means that you not only pay more to travel from place to place, it means that your service providers pay more, that freight prices are more expensive, that the technician or pizza courier pays more - so in the end everything goes back to you.

We took the most popular cars in Israel and checked for you how much you will pay more for each of the 95 gasoline gasoline you are about to fill, and how much money it comes out in the annual summary of average car travel.

The bad news - no matter what you do, it amounts to hundreds of shekels, the worse news - this is probably not the last price increase you will see.

And one last reminder before we set off.

Currently, the price of a liter of 95 gasoline - not a luxury product, not a treat reserved for the wealthy - is 6.71 cents in self-service, the fuel component itself from this amount - 1.74 shekels.

What did we check?

How did we check?

The cars in the review in front of you were selected based on their popularity, whether as cars purchased primarily by private customers such as the Toyota Rav 4 or Peugeot 3008 alongside the best-selling car fleets like the Hyundai Ionic.

This is because in the end, even the cars that are initially purchased for the institutional market find their way into private hands at the end of their term.

We chose cars from the three more common categories, mini and super mini, family, Jeeps and crossovers.

We also tried to integrate the variety of propulsion systems available in the market today, from gasoline engines, for hybrids and also one representative of plug-in cars.

The fuel averages you see here are a weighting between the manufacturers' statements and the fuel consumption achieved in our road tests throughout the marketing period of the models.

This is because on the one hand the manufacturers' statements sin optimistically about misleading, and on the other hand the fuel consumption in our road tests refers to driving that combines very strenuous sections alongside administrative driving, not always the regular nature of driving cars.

The second point is that fuel consumption in the test may also be affected by the season in which it is tested and other factors.

The calculation of the annual cost of fuel referred to the average mileage of 16,200 km per year, this is the average mileage for a private car according to the Central Bureau of Statistics' publication as of 2019. This year was chosen because , And those of 2021 have not yet been released.

Mini and super mini

An overwhelming advantage for a hybrid in the group (Photo: screenshot, Keinan Cohen)

In the small car group, we chose two very popular mini cars, the Kia Picanto and the Hyundai i10.

The two identical cars at their base have been passed on in the current generation to the use of a single-clutch robotic gearbox.

This has significantly improved the average fuel consumption of the previous generation (but pays a price for it in refining the ride).

You will also find here two very common super mini cars.

Seat Ibiza and Toyota Yaris Hybrid.

The Ibiza uses a supercharged 1.0-liter engine and dual-clutch gearbox while in the Toyota Yaris, the current generation also has a petrol engine combined with a hybrid unit and a continuous gearbox.

A combination that gives it fantastic fuel consumption.

Family

These three cars play mainly in the field of the vehicle fleets (Photo: screenshot, Keinan Cohen)

In the family group, in the past the largest and most dominant in the market and one that has been in retreat for several years in light of the growing popularity of small jeeps, we have chosen to present the most prominent and common.

One of them, the Corolla presents a rather unique position in the local car market and is the best-selling model both in the overall dedication figure and in the private dedication index that we make sure to publish here, as an index of the car's real demand.

Beyond the mystical attraction of the Israeli customer to the Toyota brand, its fuel consumption, especially in the current generation, is certainly convincing at the gas station as well.

The Hyundai Ionic, which has had its last year with its replacement with the new Elantra, also shows very nice numbers, the huge amounts of it that have hit the roads in recent years ensure that we will still see it here for many years as used.

Last is one of the most successful and successful Europeans in the local market - Skoda Octavia, which thanks to a mix of dimensions, usability, equipment and more, manages to screw up in the top five of popular brands in Israel, far above the rest of Europe.

It does not have a hybrid unit, but the use of a slim, turbocharged petrol engine and a dual-clutch gearbox.

Jeeps and crossovers

If you have the option to charge it, the Niro plug-in will leave you a lot of money in your pocket (Photo: screenshot, Keinan Cohen)

The category of Jeeps and crossovers is the longer list here and not for nothing.

The crossover is Israel's new family car, not a new thing, but in light of their fuel costs, which are significantly higher than those of an average family car - it's amazing to see how much the Israeli customer is willing to pay for the image.

Here, too, one can see the gaps between the versions with gasoline engines like the Peugeot 3008, Skoda Kodiak or Hyundai Tucson and vehicles with hybrid engines, in this case the two Toyota models.

But above these is the Niro Plug In, a model that thanks to an attractive price and with a very nice equipment package and under the auspices of a tax benefit and a discount on the value of use, managed to produce a very strong penetration.

Admittedly, you will need the option to charge it from the electrical outlet to enjoy the best that a plug-in system offers.

But if you have one and with a fully electric mobility of 40-50 km depending on the driving route, this is a car that will allow you to stay away from fuel pumps for very long periods of time.
