The ex-service Mercedes of Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher has been auctioned off in Paris.

The AMG C63 T-model was available at a bargain price.

Update from February 4, 2022, 5:30 p.m.:

A prominent previous owner significantly increases the chances of getting a high price at a vehicle auction.

However, this is obviously no guarantee of a top result.

At the auction of a Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG station wagon, which was the company car of seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher (53) for a few months in 2010, the result fell well short of expectations.

A bidder was awarded the contract for the ex-Schumi company car for just 27,600 euros.

In the run-up to the auction, experts had estimated the value of the vehicle at up to 110,000 US dollars (around 96,000 euros).

According to the listing, the 2015 AMG Estate was restored to "excellent" condition - and has hardly been driven since.

On top of that, the buyer gets a fresh set of tires and a free check of the car in a Mercedes workshop.

If you then include the celebrity bonus, the currently horrendous prices for used cars - and the fact that the car was once the company car of a Formula 1 star, the buyer has probably made a real bargain.

First report from January 28, 2022, 3:21 p.m.:

Paris – One or the other may still dimly remember the year 2005: At that time, a rather unspectacular VW Golf 4 came under the hammer on eBay. A buyer received the bid for the insane bid of 190,000 euros! The reason: Among the previous owners of the Golf was a certain Joseph Ratzinger (94) - who was elected Pope (Benedict XVI) in 2005. Last year, a Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Cabrio belonging to football legend Diego Maradona (60, † 2020) was auctioned for almost half a million euros. And soon a car will go under the hammer again, which is likely to increase in value significantly thanks to a very prominent previous owner. It is the ex-company car of seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher (53), as reported by 24auto.de.

Michael Schumacher: Ex-company car comes under the hammer

The racing driver was given the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Estate as a company car after moving to the newly founded Mercedes GP Petronas Formula 1 team.

The black car was registered to Mercedes-Benz AG in Schlieren (Switzerland) - but Michael Schumacher ("Schumacher, Mickael") is entered as the driver in the notes on the vehicle registration document.

Ex-Michael Schumacher's company car: Extras for 20,000 euros

Of course, the company car of the Formula 1 legend was equipped with all kinds of luxury options, which, according to the vehicle description in the Bonhams offer, drove the theoretical list price up by more than 20,000 euros.

The Mercedes remained in the possession of the Formula 1 legend until the summer of 2010 – around six months.

From 2011 to 2015, the C63 was owned by a Swiss man who was apparently more interested in the car than the prominent previous owner.

Because instead of taking care of the vehicle in a garage, he used it diligently: the former Schumacher company car had 146,287 kilometers on the clock when it went to a German Mercedes engineer.

The new owner left the car in excellent condition - by the time he sold the car again in 2018, the car had driven less than 1,000 kilometers.

And the current owner didn't drive it much either: The ex-Schumi Mercedes is now being sold with a mileage of 152,000 kilometers.

The car is lined with black leather on the inside, and the TÜV sticker dates from March 2021. Whoever buys the car gets a fresh set of tires – and a free check in a Mercedes workshop.

The car will be auctioned on February 3, 2022 in Paris.
