The Israeli actress Gal Gadot is receiving rave reviews around the world for her role in the detective film "Death on the Nile" directed by Kenneth Branagh, based on a book of the same name by Agatha Christie from 1937. The film is expected to be released in Israel this weekend.
The website of the highly regarded American magazine Variety reads "Gal Gadot Shines", and in the body of the text it is written that she plays her role "with a vivid spark as she did not always do outside of 'Wonder Woman' films."
The Deadline website states that "Gadot looks like she was born for the job."
And in London's Evening Standard, Gadot is defined as "insanely cute."
It should be noted that while Gadot's play is acclaimed, the film receives mixed reviews and currently the average reviews stand at 68 on the ROTTENTOMATOES website.
"Death on the Nile" is a sequel to "Murder on the Orient Express" from 2017.
At its center stands the Belgian detective Hercule Poirot, who plays Brana.
Brana, who also played Poirot in the previous film, travels on a pleasure cruise on the Nile River in Egypt and investigates the murder of Lynette Ridgeway Doyle, played by Gal Gadot, a wealthy heiress who was murdered during her honeymoon against a love triangle.
The film also stars Armie Hammer, Annette Benning, Rose Leslie, Sophie Okondo, Tom Bateman and more.
A few days ago, it became known that the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information is banning the screening of the film "Death on the Nile" in all cinemas in the Gulf state because of the participation of the Israeli actress in the film, according to the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Qabs.
A senior official in the country told the newspaper that "the ministry will not allow the screening of the film and it has been removed from the screening lists of the three film companies in the country."
According to reports in Kuwait, the move follows a demand by the "boycott movement on the Zionist entity."
In the past, the Ministry of Information in the country also banned the screening of "Wonder Woman" starring Gadot, claiming that she had previously been a soldier in the "Israeli occupation army."
