One of the defendants in the trial of the November 13 attacks tested positive for Covid-19, which could compromise the resumption of the hearing on Tuesday, according to sources familiar with the matter who confirm information from France Inter.

Opened on September 8, the trial of the attacks which killed 130 people in Paris and Saint-Denis has already been interrupted twice since the beginning of January, two defendants having contracted the coronavirus.

A third, Mohamed Amri, took an antigen test on Sunday which turned out to be positive, the president of the special assize court in Paris said in a message sent to lawyers.

He is accused of being one of the two men to have exfiltrated Salah Abdeslam from France to Belgium the night of the terrorist killings and of having previously participated in the rental of several of the vehicles used by the commandos.

Other detainees must be screened

“As it stands, it appears that the hearing will not be able to resume on Tuesday or this week given the isolation period in force,” according to the message.

Other detainees must also be screened.

The trial was already suspended in early January, the main defendant, Salah Abdeslam, having contracted the Covid in prison at the end of December.

The hearing resumed on January 11 and was again postponed on January 18, after the positive test of Ali El Haddad Asufi, also detained and suspected of having participated in the search for weapons.

The trial resumed on January 25.

After the first interrogations of the defendants on the merits, the week was to be devoted to new hearings of Belgian investigators.
