Tesla Gigafactory Grünheide: "The most modern paint shop in the world"

The first cars could roll off the assembly line in the Gigafactory in Grünheide in March.

Then Tesla would put its most modern paint shop to date into operation.

Grünheide – Elon Musk (50) had actually wanted to have the Tesla Model Y produced in the Gigafactory in Grünheide near Berlin since 2021.

So far, however, the US electrical manufacturer is still waiting for the final approvals to start production.

Most recently it was said that it could start in March.

Tesla has now shown on Facebook that the Gigafactory is ready to get started.

There, the US carmaker gave a first glimpse of the new plant near Berlin.

The paint shop can be seen in the approximately 40-second video with which Tesla wants to recruit new employees, as reported by 24auto.de.

According to the automaker, this is “its most advanced paint shop.”

With the commissioning, the color palette of Tesla should also increase.

Currently, only five color variants are offered: white, black, silver, blue and red. However, customers have to pay a surcharge for all colors except white.

So now more colors are to be added again and the paint shop at Gigafactory Berlin plays a crucial role in this, as Musk pointed out: “Giga Berlin will have the most advanced paint shop in the world, with more layers of stunning colors that change subtly with the curvature. But a paint shop with a similar capacity is also to be built in the Gigafactory in Austin, where Tesla recently had its headquarters.

When Tesla will start offering the new colors will depend on when the two factories start production.

At the end of last year, however, there was already an indication of which colors customers could look forward to.

Back then, three new options appeared in the Tesla app: Deep Crimson Multicoat, Abyss Blue Multicoat, and Mercury Silver Metallic.
