Throughout his trial before the assizes of Isère, Nordahl Lelandais remained braced on his "truth", with fluctuating versions of the circumstances of Maëlys' death in 2017. This Thursday, life was required against him with a security period of 22 years.
“I do not qualify Nordahl Lelandais as a serial killer.
He is, on the other hand, a psychopath”, estimated the Advocate General, who also qualifies him as a “permanent liar” and pointing to a “destructive illegal invasive multiple sexuality which will lead to the murder of Maëlys”.
He is a “chillingly cold man after the fact, a man with a split personality”.

"I know very well today that the family, the judges, you are waiting for answers, that's what happened, that's the truth," assured the accused on Wednesday on the tenth day of his trial.
The civil parties consider his confession hollow
He explained that he killed the 8-year-old child by punching her in the face: "The blows were intentional, it was not an accident, it was me who gave them but I had no intention to kill him".
He also maintained that she voluntarily got into her car on the night of August 26 to 27, 2017, at a wedding party in Pont-de-Beauvoisin (Isère), to "see (her) dogs".

Spurred on by his lawyer, he ended up changing his version and recognizing "all the facts" with which he is accused.
He admits that he "voluntarily killed Maëlys" and that getting her into his car was indeed a kidnapping.
The civil parties consider his confession hollow, devoid of sincerity and "remotely guided".
Especially since he continues to fiercely deny any sexual abuse of the child.
The verdict is expected Friday.
