 Waiting for the new Full Hyibrid engine that will be available in Europe as well as for the S-Cross also for Vitara (a hybrid powertrain that will combine a new thermal unit together with an MGU electric motor and a new AGS robotised gearbox), the current 1.4 129 HP Turbo Boosterjet offered by the House of Hamamatsu for the Italian market makes the S-Cross one of the most interesting compact SUVs on the market.

    This model is in fact capable of combining Suzuki's traditional off-road DNA with ideal dimensions for the traffic and streets of our cities, all with a renewed attention to environmental issues - through the 48V hybrid system and its kinematic chain - to those of the safety and comfort, in this case thanks to an Adas equipment that is worthy of higher segment models.

   The SUV being tested by ANSA Motori is therefore the new S-Cross Hybrid equipped with a 4-cylinder 1.4 Turbo Boosterjet petrol engine with 129 HP and 235 Nm of torque.

As promised by Suzuki, and as verified in the already different driving conditions, it is an advanced engine that uses a low inertia turbine, and can take advantage of the optimization of the direct injection system, of the electric variable valve timing in the intake and of a high compression ratio.

    These prerogatives allow to reduce fuel consumption (which is approved according to Wltp standards within a range of 6.1 - 6.5 liters per 100 km) and CO2 emissions (139-148 g / km) without taking anything away to driving pleasure.

Of this compact SUV we appreciate above all the prompt delivery of torque, which benefits from the extra thrust of the electric motor from a very low speed.

When the control electronics of the S-Cross Hybrid detect the demand for power, the torque compensation system and the torque boost increase response, smoothness and acceleration.

    This propulsion system is particularly suitable for enhancing the dynamic qualities of the S-Cross when it is equipped with the Allgrip Select electric all-wheel drive.

Everything is manageable through 4 modes (Auto, Sport, Snow and Lock) which are easily selectable by a command placed on the central tunnel.

    As we have been able to verify in demanding passages, such as a mule track in the province of Varese with a gradient of more than 30% or other off-road vehicles in the Arona area, this function makes it very easy to select while in motion the adjustment of the 4x4 system most suited to the driving conditions. guide.

    Thanks to the electronic control, the vehicle alone adapts the amount of torque to be distributed towards the rear wheels and communicates with the ESP system, the engine management and the other on-board systems to ensure the most appropriate response for each mode.

    It is evident that to concentrate on driving and also enjoy contact with nature (thanks to the glass sunroof that is standard in the Starview level) the best combination of Hybrid propulsion system and 4WD traction is the one that is completed with the automatic gearbox. 8-speed, also standard in the Starview e-cross.

    Recall that already in the Top + level the new generation of S-Cross offers the piano black front grille as standard;

the 17-inch BiColor alloy wheels;

the tail pieces for extending the wheel arches;

aluminum roof bars;

the rear roof spoiler;

matching mirrors, heated, electrically adjustable and foldable;

    To travel in complete tranquility, Suzuki also supplies a long list of Adas as standard in the latest generation S-Cross, whose names are much clearer than the classic abbreviations.

There are guidadritto;

attention brakes with recognition;

stay awake;

eye limit;

bodyguards and vaipure already on the Top + while in the Starwiev the failafila is added which is a very effective adaptive control cruise.
