American tech billionaire Elon Musk is helping Ukraine out with the Internet.
Ukraine's Digital Minister Mykhailo Fedorov asked the Tesla and SpaceX founder on Twitter to provide the country with a mobile network via Starlink satellites from orbit - after the Russian invasion apparently destroyed such infrastructure in the country.
"While you're trying to colonize Mars, Russia is trying to occupy Ukraine," Fedorov wrote to Musk on Twitter.
He should please activate the Starlink service in Ukraine.
A few hours later, Musk also responded on Twitter: “The Starlink service is now active in Ukraine.
More terminals are on the way.«
Fedorov then confirmed that the Starlink network is coming to Ukraine.
On Twitter, he thanked the Ukrainian ambassador to the United States, Oksana Markarova, who helped with the quick authorization and certification.
SpaceX has a total of around 2,000 satellites orbiting the earth at an altitude of around 550 kilometers in order to offer Internet access to remote regions of the world.
Most recently, SpaceX helped the Pacific nation of Tonga, which was hit by a tsunami, to rebuild network services.
