Convertibles with electric drive are rare.

The open Polestar O2 gives hope for a real fresh air Stromer.

Gothenburg (Sweden) – Cabriolets stand for driving pleasure and direct experience of the environment.

The quiet, powerful electric drive is actually made for them.

Nevertheless, since the discontinuation of the first Tesla Roadster and the Citroën e-Méhari, there have been no real open Stromers.

After all, the Smart EQ fortwo cabrio and Fiat 500 cabrio are rather small electric cars with a large fabric sunroof.

Convertible fans who can afford it may already have paid for the new $200,000 Tesla Roadster.

Polestar, a sister brand of Volvo in the Chinese Geely group, is now giving everyone else hope with an open prototype of the Polestar 2.

It looks really good, as 24auto.de judges.

The Polestar O2 is still declared as a study, but the prototype already looks very close to series production.

In production, an engine output of up to 408 hp would be likely.

The base price would probably be well above the 45,500 euros of the coupe.

In the interior, which is kept simple and Scandinavian, Polestar does without leather seats and uses recycled materials such as knitted fiber and fleece.

It remains to be hoped that the Geely group will give the green light and Polestar will be allowed to build its convertible – preferably before next spring.
