If you don't have a first-aid kit with you, you risk being fined at a traffic stop.

Find out here what must currently be included in it.

In the

future, two medical masks will also have to be carried in

car first aid kits.

According to the German Medical Technology Association (BVMed), the new DIN 13164:2022 standard for  first-aid kits has been in effect

since February 1, 2022

.

However, commercially available first-aid kits based on the previously applicable standard can

still be purchased without restrictions until January 31, 2023

, as they are of equivalent quality, the association announced on February 1.

The ADAC, among other things, had previously reported that it was planned to

carry masks in

the first aid kit this year .

According to the ADAC, the corresponding DIN standard for first-aid kits should be adapted for this.

It prescribes what belongs in the emergency kit.

At the time, however, it was not yet

clear when the new regulation would come and when the

two masks would have to be carried.

on its website

.

An adaptation of DIN standard no. 13164 is planned for

2022

, which lists everything that is part of the emergency kit.

"In future, two mouth and nose covers (masks) must be carried as part of the first aid kit," the article on

ADAC.de

continued .

Now the masks in the first-aid kit should also become mandatory.

A first-aid kit is essential in order to be able to provide help directly on site in an emergency, emphasize the ADAC experts in the article.

Drivers should

check the first aid kit in the car regularly.

"If the best-before date

has passed for some or all materials

, these items must be replaced." Anyone who

does not

carry a first-aid kit with them also risks "a

fine

of up to 10 euros" in the event of a traffic check by car.
