Under pressure from Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Fedorov, who urges technology giants from all walks of life to join the fight against the Russian invasion, continued fighting in Europe leaves more technology giants from all walks of life outside Russia, while Moscow restricts social networks.



Over the weekend, Roscomandor, the regulator responsible for overseeing and censoring communications in Russia, announced that it had decided to block access to Facebook.

Meta, Facebook's parent company, quickly responded to the decision, announcing that it would not allow Russian advertisers to run or create ads on its social networks from anywhere in the world.



Meta president and head of global affairs at the company, Nick Clegg, said in response to the blockade: "Soon millions of ordinary Russian citizens will find themselves cut off from reliable information, deprived of their daily ways of connecting with family and friends and silenced."

At the same time, the payment company PayPal stopped its services in Russia and joined many financial and technology companies in suspending operations in the country.

"In the current circumstances, we are suspending PayPal services in Russia," President and CEO Dan Schulman said in a statement, adding that the company "stands by the international community in condemning Russia's violent military aggression in Ukraine."

Chip giants Intel and AMD also issued a statement condemning Russia's invasion of Ukraine and announcing the suspension of shipments to customers in the country.

In addition, Microsoft also announced that it has stopped all sales of its products and services in Russia.



Another giant that has joined the boycott is the Swedish Spotify, which announced over the weekend that it is closing its office in Russia indefinitely in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

"Our first priority in the past week has been the safety of our employees, and to ensure that Spotify continues to be a source of global and regional news at a time when access to information is more important than ever," Spotify said in a statement.

The company added that since the beginning of the war it has restricted the distribution of content owned by Russian media.
