The era of combustion engines is coming to an end at Austrian Post: From now on, only electric vehicles will be purchased for delivery.
Vienna – What is the drive technology of the future?
The race has been decided for many manufacturers – they are fully committed to e-mobility.
Others, on the other hand, do not want to give up the combustion engine just yet - for example, the motorcycle manufacturer Yamaha has developed a hydrogen combustion engine on behalf of Toyota.
Or is it ultimately the e-fuels that save the combustion engine?
The Austrian Post has now decided to take a radical step: In the future, it only wants to rely on electric cars, as reported by 24auto.de.
Combustion engine off: Austrian Post relies entirely on electric vehicles
As the company announced, from now on they only want to buy e-vehicles for delivery.
This step was originally planned for 2023.
Because of the progress and developments in the vehicle market, the goal is now being reached earlier than planned.
It is possible that not all deliverers are enthusiastic about this, as Deutsche Post's e-vehicles sometimes show severe deficits in winter.
The street scooter production has now been sold to Deutsche Post.

Austrian Post relies on e-mobility: 6,000 additional charging points
The Austrian Post fleet will be expanded by 800 additional electric vehicles this year.
Another 1,300 electric vehicles are to be added next year.
The company is investing a lot of money for this: 80 million euros are being invested in e-vehicles and the charging infrastructure.
According to Austrian Post, 6,000 additional loading points must be created.
All new postal bases are equipped with charging points as standard, photovoltaic systems are being prepared for rental properties and installed at the same time for our own projects.
Only green electricity from Austria is purchased.
Austrian Post relies on Stromer: Largest electric fleet in the country
According to its own statements, Austrian Post currently operates the largest electric fleet in the country with around 2,500 e-vehicles - including around 1,100 e-bikes, e-cargo bikes, e-modeps and e-trikes as well as almost 1,400 e-vans.
For the small trucks with a loading volume of around 4 cubic meters, Swiss Post relies on vehicles from the manufacturers Citroën, Opel, Nissan and Renault - larger e-transporters with a loading volume of more than 11 cubic meters are supplied by MAN and Mercedes.
