-A stylized owl whose eye is drawn by a yellow crescent moon and a small white Earth: the logo of the Minerva mission, which will see the Italian astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti engaged in a mission of almost six months on the International Space Station (Iss) , recalls the sacred animal of the Roman goddess of wisdom and is a tribute to men and women who make space flights possible.

In anticipation of the departure, scheduled for April 15 aboard the Falcon 9 rocket with the Crew-4 of the Dragon capsule, the logo of the Minerva mission was presented in which the Italian astronaut of the European Space Agency (ESA) will be engaged for almost six months on board the ISS to support the conduct of numerous scientific experiments.

The logo represents the sacred animal with which Minerva was often depicted, the eye is represented by a crescent Moon and a white Earth while the beak and the silhouette of the 2-sign ISS recall the large solar panels of the Station and at the same time indicate that this is the second space mission of the astronaut born in Malè (Trento).

On board the Crew Dragon capsule, Cristoforetti will have the role of mission specialist while once aboard the ISS, where the Minerva mission will officially begin, he will have the role of leader of the American Orbital Segment (Usos), responsible for all operations at interior of the American, European, Japanese and Canadian modules and components of the Station.
