Federico Martin Aramburu was shot dead at the age of 42 in Paris on Saturday at dawn, after an altercation in a bar in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, in the 6th arrondissement.
Two men are suspected of having fired the shots.
A woman was also arrested on Saturday at the end of the day and was still in police custody on Monday morning, we learned from a source close to the investigation.
She would have been driving the car, from which the two suspects would have shot the former Argentine international on a boulevard in the 6th arrondissement, around 6 a.m., according to the same source.
After a "dispute" between two groups of people at Le Mabillon bar, the groups were separated by bouncers, according to a police source, but the suspects "returned shortly afterwards with a vehicle and fired shots".
"Several impacts" of bullets were noted on the spot, added a source close to the investigation and the athlete died on the spot as a result of these injuries.

A third person, a woman who was driving the vehicle, is also among the suspects.
Contacted, Me Xavier Nogueras, the lawyer for the main suspect, a far-right activist, did not wish to speak.
