The Israel Prize for Performing Arts for the year 2002 will be awarded to actor Oded Kotler
Behind Kotler between the 84 decades of activity in the Israeli theater.
According to committee members, the award was given to him "for his groundbreaking work and achievements as an actor, director and artistic director for more than 60 years. He continues to innovate, refresh and enrich the Israeli story to this day."

The Israel Performing Arts Prize for 2002 will be awarded to actor Oded Kotler, the award committee said today (Thursday)

Kotler founded and managed and created pioneering frameworks, which accommodated a variety of voices, expanded the boundaries of the Israeli spirit, and enabled the development and prosperity of the original Israeli plays.

Kotler already played as a teenager at the Ohel Theater, and later enlisted in the Central Command Band, from where he went on to the Green Onion and the Cameri Theater. Among other things, he directed the Acre Festival and the Israel Festival.
He has also starred in several feature films, including "Three Days and a Boy" by Uri Zohar, for which he won the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival.
Kotler was married to the poet Tirza Atar, to the actress Laura Rivlin, and in recent decades he has been married to Urad Atzmon.
He has three children, including actress Nina Kotler.
