Knowing who your customers are, what they're looking for and what they want - that's most of the work and Lexus have taken the story of cracking their clientele to another level.

And they have done and are doing it best with their three models - the LS, RX and ES - no wonder these are also three of the oldest on offer from this manufacturer accompanying it for years in their variety of incarnations.

Not only lenders, but also those who make up a significant portion of the manufacturer's sales cake, in the case of the ES it is also proof that when the brand is strong enough, even a popular image car like the Toyota Camry can be sold under this brand and sold nicely.

The cars that changed the world - Chapter 7

The changes in the exterior design are very moderate, it is still immediately recognized as a Lexus.

Changes to the headlights, grille and this is ultimately still a very large sedan-saloon with a hint of effort to look sporty.

The big changes are in the cabin, changes - not revolutions and this is important semantics - Lexus' customers, certainly those of the ES do not like revolutions.

But these are big and important changes and the first of them is the implementation of a large 12.3-inch touch screen that allows connectivity to Android and Apple, which is important because the basic operating system has an outdated look and mostly too similar to that of Toyota.

And it mostly allows not to use the problematic touchpad of the Lexus.

To his left is an analog clock that is supposed to radiate luxury, but more unnecessary than fireworks in daylight.

The cabin is very simple to understand, operate and function - there is about a button for each function, without all sorts of intricacies.

Not a spectacular zoo show - but efficient and purposeful.

All of this is wrapped in materials of excellent quality and assembly level down to the smallest details from the sewing in the seats (heated, ventilated and electrified), the flattening of the speakers in the doors (Mark Levinson system and there is even a disc player!) To the springy feel in the steering wheel.

Precisely against the background of all these capabilities, it was a bit disappointing to find a lower quality reversing camera than expected in such a car.

The front and rear space is excellent and connects to exceptional seating comfort.

Their individual adjustment capability allows for finding an excellent driving position and their structure balances excellently between body support and comfort, even after hours and hundreds of miles one can get out of them without a whistle of complaint.

The same is true for those who choose to drive in the back except for a slight excessive bending at the entrance to the vehicle due to the rear beam.

The comfort of the seats connects to a great overall ride comfort.

It is due to the excellent absorption-damping-restraint work of the shock absorbers and no less than the excellent noise insulation that this car has.

In this respect, too, sealing and insulating the passenger compartment from the absolute majority of paving diseases and roads makes it so easy and pleasant to cover many hundreds of kilometers.

In terms of motivation and enjoyment there are no really big changes.

It has the same 2.5-liter petrol engine powered by an electric motor that drives the front wheels with 218 hp. Performance is on the moderate side of the barricade, 8.9 seconds and a maximum of 180 km / h does not make anyone's heart gallop at an alarming rate - which is also important in case Of its customers.

The combination of the electric propulsion and the petrol engine is smooth, the regenerative charging is efficient and even the feel of the brake pedal is no longer too two-stage and too artificial.

Nor will she run into anyone looking for adventure on winding roads.

The level of grip is high, and the TNGA platform also knows how to handle not bad bends, but that no one will expect fun here.

The engine is more nimble than before the facelift but the steering wheel is still feedback-free and artificially light.

There is nothing that says less luxury than a continuous box and here on top of its terrible character is added a slow function that guarantees one thing - the power you asked for will always, but always, come half a second after you wanted it.

Indeed, in terms of fuel consumption, it was no less amazing - 15.6 km per liter, even after significantly abusive driving.

For her, being solid is a compliment (Photo: Keinan Cohen)

The Lexus ES has been revamped, but has remained as it was and this has been said as a big compliment to this car.

Because even though it lacks the noise and ringing we tend to expect to see in luxury cars like multimedia systems and space and advanced control systems, amazing performance or honed road behavior - what it is supposed to do for its solid customers it does better than the others.

At a price that starts at NIS 295,000 for the "Kyushu" finish level, for NIS 325,000 for the "generation" and up to NIS 350,000 for the "Takumi" finish level examined, it offers the worlds of size and impression of European saloon cars at the price of their compact sedan cars. - which leaves it as an excellent deal of armature and vehicle for the shekel for those looking for a car that excels in its solidity, is not incredibly exciting and is definitely excellent at being efficient.
