End of the state of health emergency in all overseas territories

The state of health emergency will be lifted Thursday evening at midnight in all the overseas territories where it was still applied, in the Antilles, Reunion and New Caledonia, the overseas ministry told AFP on Thursday.

The prefectures of Martinique and Guadeloupe specified Wednesday by press release the modalities of this lifting of the most restrictive measures.

The prefecture of Guadeloupe announced the end of the curfew and the wearing of compulsory masks in public spaces as of Friday.

The presentation of the health pass in establishments open to the public will no longer be required from Monday.

The prefecture of Martinique indicates for its part that

“the curfew will be abolished and the opening hours of common law will apply for restaurants and drinking establishments”

, from April 1.

Wearing a mask will however remain compulsory in Martinique in public places until April 9, when it will only be

“strongly recommended”

in all closed places, adds the press release.

Certain measures will remain in force after the lifting of the state of emergency in these islands of the Antilles: the obligation to vaccinate for nursing staff, the wearing of masks in public transport and the health pass in health establishments.

The number of Covid tests goes up again, their price goes down again

The number of Covid-19 screening tests, which started to rise again in early March, jumped another 27% last week, according to figures released Thursday by the Ministry of Health.

The rebound is taking on the appearance of a new wave: more than 3.8 million antigenic and PCR tests were carried out between March 21 and 27, against just under 3 million the previous week, specifies the Statistics Department (Drees) in a press release.

This third consecutive increase confirms the clear resumption of screenings, in particular among those under 16, after two months of decline from January to early March.

In this context, and given the

"very significant"

volume of antigenic tests already reimbursed since the beginning of the year (more than 45 million), the government has decided to lower their prices again from Friday, according to a decree published in the Official Journal on Thursday.

The price in pharmacies will thus drop from 20 to 16.50 euros, or 23% less.

For the other professions authorized to carry out tests (doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, midwives, dentists), the reduction will be just over 4 euros, or between 20% and 30% depending on the case.

Hospital: Senate report recommends 'electroshock' after pandemic

Caregivers must receive

"equitable financial recognition"

, get out of

"the morality of volunteerism"

and be better represented in the governance of hospitals, according to a Senate report published Thursday which calls for an

"electroshock"

in the management of hospitals.

The commission of inquiry was set up after a study in October 2021 on the closure of beds by the Scientific Council.

The parliamentarians demand the continuation of the efforts of the Ségur de la Santé announced in 2020, in particular in terms of remuneration.

"Too late"

consultations

and

"extensions without overall reflection"

have meant that among those

"forgotten from Ségur"

,

"bitterness"

does not

“dry up”

, regret the senators.

And this is even more true after a Covid-19 pandemic depicted in the report as revealing

“latent crises”

in healthcare establishments.

Faced with Covid, Shanghai admits “insufficient” preparation

“Insufficient preparations”

: a senior Shanghai official conceded on Thursday that the Chinese economic capital was not fully ready to face the current Covid outbreak, which is forcing the city to confine its 25 million inhabitants.

The metropolis is facing its worst wave of contamination since the start of the epidemic.

The Omicron variant is putting a strain on the national “zero Covid” strategy which aims to do everything to prevent new cases.

Shanghainese living in the eastern part of the city (Pudong) have been confined to their homes since Monday morning and are subject to general screening.

This confinement will last until Friday morning, when the West (Puxi) will be put under a bell.
