A deadly fire broke out this Saturday morning around 7:30 a.m. in the town of La Glacerie, at the exit of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, in the Manche department.
The collective building housed nine people, including two children, who did not survive.
The first was found dead in the apartment.
The second could not be revived despite numerous attempts by firefighters, reports France Bleu.
About fifty firefighters were present on the spot in the morning around this building ravaged by flames.
When they arrived the fire was already consuming the roof and thick smoke was emerging, describes the radio.
At around 10 a.m. the fire was able to be contained, but traffic was still cut off at the scene of the tragedy and residual fires still persisted at the end of the morning.
Several people were transported to the Pasteur hospital in Cherbourg, including the parents of the two deceased children, who were in a state of shock according to Ouest-France.
