The musical "Sounds of Music" will be staged at the Hebrew Theater, directed by Natan Datner - Walla!

The theater recently acquired the production rights for the musical and will stage it this coming Hanukkah on the stage of the Tel Aviv Hall of Culture, and at the Northern Theater during December.
The translation of the musical is signed by Eli Bijawi, and the musical arrangement by Yossi Ben-Nun.
These days, the theater has begun the process of selecting the actress and singer who will step into the shoes of the singing nun, Maria von Trapp, the heroine of the musical.
This is the first time that "Sounds of Music" appears in a repertory theater, the Hebrew theater under the artistic direction of Gadi Tzedaka, after appearing several times over the years in other settings, including in 1995 in a version directed by Menachem Golan starring Hani Nachmias and Shashi Keshet. Years later in another version, alternating with Dudu Fischer, and alongside the late Rama Messinger, directed by Moshe Kaftan
The musical, written by Oscar Hammerstein and composed by Richard Rogers, is based on Maria von Trump's memoir.
It debuted on Broadway in 1959, and about six years later the feature film of the same name, played by Julie Andrews, won five Oscars.
Many of the songs in the musical have become classics including "My Favorite Things", "Do-Ra-Mi" and the theme song "Sounds of Music".

Natan Datner is currently also directing for the Hebrew Theater the musical "Fiddler on the Roof", which will be staged in June and will return to the character of Tuvia the Milkman who played in a previous version of the Cameri Theater musical, only six and a half years after it was released.
Alongside him will be Sandra Sadeh, Nira Rabinovich, Shai Gavso and Yaniv Suissa.
