Regulations for charging stations for e-cars: Who is allowed to park for how long?

The use of public charging stations is not uniformly regulated nationwide.
In foreign cities and federal states you should therefore inform yourself beforehand.
Charging parking spaces for electric cars are subject to special usage rules in Germany, which vary from region to region.
As a survey by the ADAC automobile club among the road traffic authorities in the 16 state capitals shows, there is a certain amount of confusion nationwide.
For example, there were differences in the signage, which was sometimes ambiguous, or the rules on parking and loading times.
Parking at charging stations: Different regulations nationwide
For example, while electric vehicles of all types are allowed to park at charging stations in five of the cities surveyed, the vehicles in the remaining eleven cities must have an e-license plate.
Especially in Erfurt and Schwerin there are regulations that e-parking spaces
can also be used by cars with combustion engines
at night .
In five cities, on the other hand, parking is only allowed
if charging is taking place at the same time
.
In 14 cities there is also a
time limit for parking with charging
.
Within a city, the time restrictions can vary depending on the type of charging station.
In Munich, the limit is
one hour for fast charging
stations and
four hours for normal
charging stations .
Confusing signs at charging stations and parking spaces for e-cars
The automobile club also criticized the fact that the signs attached in addition to the blue P sign were not always effective.
For example, only cars with an e-plate may park with the additional sign “vehicle with plug”,
but they do not necessarily have to charge
.
In the case of the additional sign "During the charging process", it remains unclear what is understood as the charging process.
This raises the question of whether the regulation also applies
when the battery is already full
but the parking process continues.
The ADAC therefore demands uniform rules for charging and parking, as well as clearly worded regulations and clearly understandable signage.
