Fuel prices in Germany are still at a high level.
But with the right timing, motorists can save.
Munich – If you fill up your car in Germany, you have to dig deeper into your pocket than in most neighboring countries.
The fuel prices are even among the highest in Europe.
Especially after the outbreak of the Ukraine war, the prices for petrol and diesel shot up.
In the meantime, prices have recovered somewhat, but the pre-war level is not yet in sight.
This should then be achieved again at the latest with the reduction in energy tax from June.
Diesel and gasoline should be significantly cheaper, because the price of Brent crude oil fell from $130 in March to below $100 at times.
If you fill up at the right time, you can save a lot of money.

Currently, however, crude oil is becoming more expensive again and is approaching a price of 110 dollars.
Nevertheless, the ADAC recently criticized the unreasonably high prices, as reported by the "Saarbrücker Zeitung".
As a result of the fact that fuel prices have hardly fallen, the Federal Ministry of Economics would like to strengthen the market transparency office, which ADAC sees as an important contribution to normalizing price levels.
And the Cartel Office also issued a warning to the mineral oil companies.
However, these have used the Ukraine war to increase their margins and make fat profits from the crisis.
Nevertheless, motorists can save money when refueling.
One possibility is price comparison using smartphone apps.
If you have a car with a petrol engine, you can also switch to the biofuel E10.
High fuel prices: Refueling is usually particularly expensive at the weekend
But the time of the visit to the gas station should also be chosen wisely, as the ADAC repeatedly emphasizes that prices are lower in the evening than in the morning.
Fluctuations of up to 10 cents per liter are possible at the pump within a day.
As an evaluation by “benzinpreis.de” (as of April 29) shows, it was cheapest on average at 9 p.m. in the past seven days.
The ADAC recommends refueling between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

In addition to the time of day, the day of the week also has a saving effect.
As a rule, the closer the weekend gets, the more motorists have to pay for diesel and petrol.
The rush at the petrol stations is usually highest on Saturdays, while Tuesdays and Wednesdays are particularly empty.
According to "benzinpreis.de" (as of April 29), Wednesday was the cheapest in the past seven days.
It was the most expensive on Sunday.
In addition, you can also save money by choosing the gas station.
The chains are often a few cents more expensive than free or supermarket gas stations.
