This is a summary of the analysis of the police for this so-called "social" weekend, culminating in the traditional May Day parades, this Sunday, for which the trade unions are hoping for a large influx to make their voices heard. vote after the presidential election.
In 2021, May Day took place during the week, and the parades had made their comeback after a year 2020 in confined mode due to Covid-19.
Some 106,000 demonstrators had been registered in France, including 17,000 in Paris, according to the figures of the Ministry of the Interior, many more according to the organizers.
The processions had been disturbed by numerous incidents and clashes, in Lyon and especially in Paris, resulting in 56 arrests and six injured police officers.
No particular risks envisaged
This Sunday, between 100 and 150 assembly points are planned in the country, according to CGT confederal secretary Céline Verzeletti, quoted by AFP.
In the capital, the demonstration will set off at 2:30 p.m. from Place de la République, towards Place de la Nation.
The same security system as the previous year will be deployed, particularly in Paris (5,000 members of the police had been hired in the capital).
But the analysis services of the authorities do not envisage any particular risks.
Only the cities where incidents had broken out on the evening of the second round on April 24, after the announcement of the re-election of Emmanuel Macron, will be more particularly monitored, in particular Rennes and Nantes.
