The ADAC auto club has broken down its breakdown operations by brand.
A hitherto exemplary brand is surprisingly weakening.
Munich – A car breakdown is annoying.
It is all the more important that a competent helper arrives as quickly as possible, for example one from the ADAC (who, by the way, helps drivers from the Ukraine on a goodwill basis).
As every year, the car club examined the reasons for the breakdowns again last year and identified weakening 12-volt starter batteries as the main problem - by the way, this also applies to electric cars.
Europe's largest car club has now broken down the breakdowns into 132 models from 22 manufacturers - and identified clear losers and model boys.

---|---|
1. Smart Forfour | production ended |
2.Hyundai i20 | Vulnerable up to year of construction 2015 |
3. Renault Clio | Be careful with the years of construction 2014 and 2015 |
4. Toyota C-HR | Vulnerable battery supplier changed in 2022 |
5.Toyota Corolla | Vulnerable battery supplier changed in 2022 |
6. Ford S Max | Always weak |
7. Opel Insignia | Consistent problems |
8. Volkswagen Sharan | Especially older models weaken |
The double appearance of Toyota in this worst-of ranking is striking - the Japanese cars actually convince with their reliability.
The reason for this seems to be inferior batteries, which is why Toyota has now changed suppliers.

It should be noted that many brands operate their own help hotline, and German manufacturers in particular often send their own breakdown helpers to the breakdown - which then does not appear in the statistics.
According to ADAC, however, this effect is largely the same across all models.
There are of course other auto clubs whose statistics look different.
