The Porsche 911 is one of the best sports cars in the world, the Porsche 911 Sport Classic is an attempt to refine this machine in a rare and one-time combination.

Excessive, absolute and perfect.

This is the 911 we want!

With the good engine, the right gearbox, rear-wheel drive and a design that is a tribute to the company's huge classics.

It is inevitable to acknowledge that this 911 is breaking our hearts

The good news: Porsche puts in the 911 Sport Classic all the best that this car has to offer.

The bad news: she does the annoying trick of a limited creature.

The sad news: one of these will arrive in Israel and it is not ours.

Yes, because just when you thought the last thing the world needed was another 911 version - it happens.

The people of Porsche have issued a summons to the server angels and after a brainstorming session led by Michael Mauer, Vice President of Design at Porsche, they are putting out the perfect 911 Sport Classic.

For nothing is it perfect?

Because that's exactly how I would build it.

The 911 Sport Classic is the second in a series of four special models celebrating Porsche's history.

With the first edition built on the basis of the 911 Targa S4 and introduced in 2020 it brought features from the 50s and early 60s (i.e. from the early models of the manufacturer, before the introduction of the 911 itself).

The "Sports Classic" now on display continues the journey and this time with features from the 60s and 70s.

Specifically, the most notable connection is with the Carrera 2.7 RS, Porsche's ultra-rare and coveted racing homologation car manufactured between November 1972 and July 1973. The one that established the status of this model also on the racetracks and is most distinctive thanks to its integral ducktail tail spoiler.

Externally, like the Carrera RS that got the extended wings back then, the Sport Classic is also packed in the wide body that comes from the 911 Turbo, the same iconic ducktail tail repeats, the bubble roof with two bulges that hint at track cars that allowed helmet driving to the rims that get the classic black look gray.

Even inside the cabin, Porsche dresses the 911 Sport Classic in a mix of old and new.

When the base of the digital dashboard and the multimedia screen sit inside a dark brown leather upholstery, a wooden strip across the cabin and the seat upholstery the brown leather is integrated with the black-and-white fabric upholstery identified with Porsche classics from those years.

And in the midst of all this there is a gear lever, as if it were just one in which you shift gears alone.

So yes, this version comes with a manual gearbox with seven transmission ratios and it is not the only interesting combination it has.

It contains its unique and exclusive combination that includes the following mix:

a 3.7-liter engine, six-cylinder boxer configuration with two turbochargers - this is actually the engine of the Porsche 911 Turbo in a slightly moderate version and the only opportunity to get this engine with a manual transmission (which makes it -911 most powerful manual ever).

The gearbox has an RPM coordination mechanism in downshifting, meaning the car raises the RPM slightly independently to ensure a smooth combination of the lower gears.

Of course drivers who want to do it themselves have the option to cancel it.

Unlike the turbo that comes with dual propulsion and out of a desire to put up a true homage model aimed at driving, the 911 Sport Classic comes with rear-wheel drive only.

As part of the combination of the assemblies between the various versions of the car in order to produce it, it receives the set of shocks and suspensions of the wonderful GTS that was tested very recently with us.

It is 10mm lowered than the standard Porsche 911.

The tribute car, which will be produced in a limited amount and in only 1,250 copies, was also assigned a single car to a happy Israeli customer who will pay NIS 2.2 million for it and will have to wait for it, like the rest of the world for the last quarter of 2022

. Not only as a car with a lustful mix of components, but also one that will very quickly become very much in demand among collectors and future classics.

What can we hope for?

That at least most of them will not spend their lives under fluorescent ceilings, sad and waiting for an increase in value, but will also do what Porsche cars know how to do best - give in to gas and fun.
