A 38-year-old woman attacked a firefighter who was trying to put out a fire, on the sidelines of the parade of the 1st in Paris. Challenged, this mother

This is one of the sequences that marked the spirits, during the demonstration of May 1st.

On Sunday, on the sidelines of the parade in Paris, a woman attacked a firefighter who was trying to put out a fire, before being arrested.

The fire soldier targeted filed a complaint on Monday.

Since then, first elements have made it possible to learn more about the identity of the demonstrator.

We take stock.

What happened ?

On Sunday, the May Day parade was punctuated by clashes and tensions, from the start of the Place de la République.

In addition to the destruction of windows and violence with the police, a firefighter was attacked in the middle of the afternoon, in the 11th arrondissement of the capital, while he was trying to put out a fire of pallets in the corner of rue Alexandre-Dumas and boulevard Voltaire.

On the spot, a young man first tried to prevent the firefighters from putting out the fire.

After a few unsuccessful attempts, he walks away before a woman in turn approaches the firefighter, trying to grab the fire hose.

Then, footage shows her punching the firefighter's helmet.

An investigation was opened for "violence against a person charged with a public service mission", "contempt of a person holding public authority" and "rebellion".

After his arrest, the police found during their search, a hammer, a pair of scissors and a gas mask, specifies Europe 1.

Who is she ?

After the attack, the demonstrator was arrested and placed in police custody at the police station of the 20th arrondissement of Paris.

Aged 38, this mother living in Seine-Saint-Denis officiated on Sunday as a "street medic", that is to say a volunteer taking care of first aid for people injured during demonstrations, reports France Inter.

She would have participated in several rallies, in particular during the movement of yellow vests or during anti-vax rallies, completes BFMTV.

Interviewed in July 2021 by the American press agency Associated Press, she indicated that she had resigned from her nursing position, accusing the government of “using a form of

blackmail

”.

"I don't think we should be told what to do," she told the agency, believing that "French medical personnel during the first wave of Covid-19 were quite mistreated".

Particularly active on social networks, the demonstrator relays anti-vaccine content on her Facebook and Instagram account and says she supports "the freedom convoy", a movement of opponents of health restrictions, also including yellow vests, which was mobilized last February in Paris.

On her account, the mother of the family also displays her support for the leader of rebellious France, Jean-Luc Mélenchon.

During the first round, she had notably published a photo of her in the voting booth, with a bulletin for the rebellious.

Does she have a criminal record?

A complaint had already been filed against her for "willful violence", in the context of a neighborhood dispute, specifies France Inter.

But the 30-year-old would have no criminal record in connection with the demonstrations in which she participated.

What motives?

Difficult to know the reasons which pushed this demonstrator to be violent, on the sidelines of the parade.

Asked Monday evening on the Touche set not at my post (TPMP) on C8, his companion struggles to explain his gesture.

"We can't forgive, I myself don't agree," he began.

“Because we have often needed firefighters in our mobilizations for 4 years.

They were our saviors because sometimes we saw hands torn off etc.

The man speaks of his companion as a person "who usually tries to delay things, on one side or the other", during demonstrations.

It is even in this sense that she would have initially approached the firefighter, who was facing an angry individual.

“But subsequently, we did not understand his reasoning,” admits his spouse.

"I don't understand and she herself must not understand what she did," he said, before "apologizing to all the firefighters in France".
