One person was killed and 12 others were injured when a train derailed on Monday near Vienna, emergency services said.
The accident occurred at the end of the day in the town of Münchendorf, south of the Austrian capital, "for unknown reasons", said Andreas Zenker, spokesman for the Red Cross in the region.

Among the injured, "three are seriously affected and nine slightly", said the spokesman, adding that a hundred passengers were then on board.

Fatal accidents are rare in this alpine country of nine million inhabitants, a member of the European Union.
In February 2018, a train collision killed one person and injured 22.
Two months later, 54 people were injured in another accident in Salzburg.
