Kimco also wanted an adventure scooter to compete in the hottest market segment, so she took her popular mega-town, added some makeup, and went ahead

Kimco Introduces Generation X.

The Taiwanese manufacturer was recently joined by the adventurous train speeding in the two-wheeler market with its interpretation of the genre.

The method, taking an existing popular scooter, adding touches to the terrain here and there and we have it.

We went out for a quick meeting with the new tool to see if that was enough

Everyone wants to be an Adventure.

Adventure is the slogan today in the two-wheeler market of every salesperson.

Do you have an Adventure?

You will sell from it and a lot.

You should not explain too much.

"What is it?" The customer will ask and the salesman will answer him, "You do not see? It's an adventure."

"Well, bring me one."

Then on the street someone will ask you, "Dude, what motorcycle did you buy?"

And you will proudly answer, "Adventure, man, you're a waste of time."

Yes, adventure fashion has taken over the two-wheeled realm, just as crossovers have conquered the car sales charts.

The concept is broad, you do not really have to prove ability to cross the Rubicon in reverse, enough that you are a little taller than others, with lighting units that spit out LEDs, maybe even a few extra squares for tires and you are eligible for the title.

We have reviewed the field of adventures in this section many times, especially in the last year or two.

What began in the early 1980s as a unique segment for crossing the Sahara and Paris Dakar racing, has over the years become a public domain and a tough tool that only super riders can take over its turbulent nature, it has become a pet for couples trips on weekends and home-work-home transport in the rest Days of the week.

The BMW GS 80 R overturns in its grave.

Kimco wants that too

While Adventure motorcycles are already in every showroom of every global manufacturer from large to small, in the field of scooters the business is still in its infancy but do not worry, within a year or two, it will take over this field as well, because why settle for a scooter if possible, a little more money, Get a scooter plus?

Plus an attractive look, plus the ability to hike, plus the ability to get off the road, plus be contemporary.

To the city on a daily basis, for trails on the weekend (Photo: Daniel Dahari)

The father of the segment can be attributed to the 125 Piaggio Typhoon from the 1990s.

It was a scooter with a respectable ventral space and balloon tires that would enter the area and also come out of it alive, a cool and multi-faceted vehicle that anyone who has not ridden, lost an experience.

The typhoon disappeared over time for one reason or another and it took almost 20 years for the Honda X ADV 750 to hit the air, a true off-road scooter that preceded the trend but in the last two years has become a sought-after hit.

Again, no competitor has yet registered for a Dakar with such a vehicle but it is certainly possible to ride it and walk on dirt roads and beyond them, as well as run with it as a very fast urban or intercity scooter in everyday life.

And now Kimco also has and the way there she did with a shortcut.

A proven scooter in the shape of downtown donated his body and limbs to Project X and thus the Kimco DTX 360 was born.

He also tackled trails with occasional water crossings (Photo: Daniel Dahari)

DTX-360 lines to his character

Let's start with the name, why 360 if it's a scooter based on the Downtown 350 and its engine volume is 321 cc in general? The new DTX360 is based on the existing Downtown 350, a (very) good, proven and very popular executive scooter that has undergone a slight transformation in favor of the new designation. Also added a plastic source to the front as well as a mud shield as required in the segment and besides, a slightly more athletic look, and color graphics and color combinations that give the new scooter a presence, and a striking and appealing look.

The engine is, as mentioned, the same familiar and good four-stroke engine adapted to the Euro 5 standard, with a single camshaft, injected, cooled by a volume of 321 cc that produces 28.4 horsepower at 7,250 rpm and a torque of 3 kg achieved in 5,750 revolutions Engine per minute. In the front wheel (120 / 80-14) there is a disc with a diameter of 260 mm while in the rear (150 / 70-13) there is one with a diameter of 220 mm. The diameter of the front shock absorbers is 37 mm and at the rear .

The seat height is 800 mm (one more than the current one) and the wheelbase is shortened to 1,545 mm, for the benefit of control, agility and offense.

The scooter enjoys a traction control system (TCS) that can be deactivated by pressing a switch on the handlebars on the left side and the propulsion is done without a key.

Beneath the seat is a respectable trunk that allows storage of a full helmet and another three-quarters while in front are two USB sockets, one in the center of the handlebars and the other in a storage compartment below it.

The idea in this case is nice, the workmanship needs polishing.

Installing a mobile in the center of the handlebars will completely hide the data screen (large, clear and excellent TFT) while in the storage compartment you can not put a full-size smartphone in the charge if you also want to close it.

And if you do not close it, well, hope you have insurance on it.

Another cm of depth and thought would solve the problem.

On the road (and also a little trail)

We had the very short encounter with the vessel in the Zichron Yaacov area, a picturesque municipality as it is said, between its alleys and unoccupied roads we rode for a few minutes and then went out to the highway and winding road to Daliyat al-Carmel, a short detour to Mount Horshen and back.

It's hard to get too impressed from such a short lap, certainly about feelings of prolonged riding (the essence of the adventure, no ?!) but we will still try to stand on a few points, before we get it for a slightly more serious test.

First, as mentioned the look is appealing and good, especially the black and orange color scheme (there are four color options), completely distracting.

The wide seat provides support and an upright and comfortable riding position, including a support backrest for the lower back, which certainly contributes to prolonged riding.

The acceleration does not flip backwards but gains speed linearly and the leisurely cruising speed easily exceeds the limits allowed by law.

The brakes do an excellent job of slowing down and stopping the vehicle while the slightly hardened dampers are hard in the asphalt environment but compensate in terrain and fast riding when going out of straight lines.

In the field (because that's what we got together for) we rode only a few kilometers on bumpy roads and stone arms and the vehicle passed it easily, without problems and mostly without background noises of loose plastic or rubbing belly.

Here the suspensions have already proven themselves well and have respectfully absorbed both punches and landings.

Riding standing in unrealistic terrain for tall people due to the proportions of the height of the handlebars compared to the foot surface but there is a very nice knee space that will allow people over 190 cm to enjoy it and feel comfortable on it. The feet have a variety of position options from 90 degrees to 45 degrees Legs in front, definitely an important feature in long rides

on the paper

The Kimco DTX 360 is not the first swallow in the adventure scooter segment, but certainly one of the first to indicate the arrival of the phenomenon.

While Honda built a new tool, Kimco went for a proven and existing platform and made adjustments to it, which most manufacturers can easily do with their existing tools and so we can expect flooding in the near future in the market.

The new Kimco is beautiful and good, behaves well on the road and shows ability even beyond the asphalt and can certainly be used as a tool for hiking on even unpaved dirt roads.

Everyone wants an adventure, Kimco will have one to sell them (Photo: Daniel Dahari)

The price, NIS 38,000, which is only NIS 3,000 more expensive than the regular version, also makes perfect sense relative to the prices of the local market.

Kimco in general and Downtown in particular have a wide fan base in the country and it is likely that quite a few will choose to move on to the new and intriguing version, so for the manufacturer or importer (Ofer Avnir) it is not a gamble but a sales leap that has already proven itself in the car market. In the two-wheeler market.
