Michael Ben David back towards the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, Italy, May 11, 2022 (Yaniv Dornbush)

There were not many surprises in the country sector that won the Eurovision final, but it was a spectacular evening full of European love showered on the Ukrainians.

Kalush Orchestra, Ukraine's representative, won the Eurovision Song Contest.

In the final weighting of votes, the band won 631 points, a big gap from those who came in second place - Britain, with 466 votes, and in third place Spain with 459 points.

The one who gave the victory to the band is mainly the audience, whose votes make up half of the final votes.

Ukraine actually got the most points from the crowd ever, and is in second place in the highest number of points ever in the final weighting.

Ukraine's victory came as no surprise: Ukraine led the betting tables and was considered a sure winner.

At the end of the final performance of the song, the band's lead singer Kalush Orchestra exclaimed: "Europe, help Ukraine, help Mariupol now!".

At a post-victory press conference, members of the Ukrainian team said: "Thank you to everyone who helped us bring victory. This is very important to us, especially this year. We are supposed to return to Ukraine in a few more days and ready to fight as much as possible. Long live Ukraine!"

After the win, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zalansky wrote on Instagram: "Our courage impresses the world, our music conquers Europe! Next year Ukraine will host the Eurovision! For the third time in history, and I believe - not for the last time. We will do our best to host Eurovision participants and Eurovision guests Freedom, Peace, and Reconstruction! Thanks to Kalush Orchestra for winning and to everyone who voted for us!
