Whether petrol or electric car: both have to be refueled or charged regularly.
The Solar City Car should not be dependent on it, thanks to the solar system on the roof.
Next year, the Dutch start-up squad wants to launch the Solar City Car, a small electric car in the L6e class that can supply itself with electricity.
It offers a roof covered with solar cells, which can provide driving power for up to 20 kilometers per day when there is enough sunlight.

The Solar City Car is taller than long.
The free-standing wheels each mark the ends of the construction, which is
only 2.0 meters
long and offers space for two passengers.
They are protected from wind and weather thanks to generous glass surfaces and a few body parts that nestle around a tubular construction made of lightweight aluminum.
The Solar City Car has optional
side doors that can be removed
if desired .
Driving with open flanks is already known from the Renault Twizy.
There is 68 liters of storage space
behind the two seats
.
The mini-mobile will initially compete in this configuration in the L6e class.
A faster L7e variant with a rear seat is also planned.
This should provide space for two children.
If the rear seats are folded down, the
storage space is said to increase to 243 liters
.
Solar City Car: The battery should also be able to be charged at the socket
The L6 version offers a
two-motor rear-wheel drive
that delivers 4 kW/5.4 hp and, depending on the registration
, accelerates
to a maximum of 45 km/h .
The L7 variant should reach a maximum of 70 km/h
.
Power storage is a removable lithium-ion battery that can be charged at household sockets and has a
range of up to 100 kilometers
.
Squad has devised a battery swapping system to swap an empty traction battery for a full one.
No information has yet been given on the battery size.
Squad also owes performance data for the solar system.
On summer days, it is supposed to feed electricity
into the traction battery
for up to 20 kilometers per day in Europe .
The doorless basic version of the Solar City Car will cost
around 7,500 euros
including VAT in Germany.
The Dutch estimate around 8,400 euros for the Pioneer Edition with doors.
The Signature Edition, which is equipped with doors, air conditioning and an additional battery, will cost around 11,000 euros.
