The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reports
72,051 new infections
within 24 hours.
That is 24,959 fewer cases than on Wednesday a week ago, when 97,010 corona infections were reported.
The nationwide
seven-day incidence
falls further to
407.4
from 437.6 the previous day.
174 other people
died in connection with the virus.
This increases the number of reported deaths to 137,888.
In view of the falling values, fundamental regulations are being reconsidered - or enshrined in court.
The Federal Constitutional Court announced its final decision on compulsory corona vaccination for nursing and health staff on Thursday.
This was announced by the highest German court in Karlsruhe on Tuesday.
In February, it had refused in an emergency procedure to suspend the regulations for the time being.
The so-called facility-related compulsory vaccination could therefore be implemented as planned in mid-March.
However, a comprehensive examination of the constitutional complaints was still pending.
The court publishes its decision in writing.
Predominantly unvaccinated employees and facility managers who want to continue to employ unvaccinated staff have complained.
In the summary proceedings, the judges had decided: "The very low probability of serious consequences of a vaccination is offset by the significantly higher probability of damage to the life and limb of vulnerable people."
However, the judges critically noted that the law does not contain anything more specific about proof of vaccination and recovery.
