Remote control food: We tested the Dogness automatic feeder

Regular feeding times, app and call for the pet to come eat - while you are not at home: We tested the new product from the American company Dogness, which will help you make sure that the dog or cat does not stay hungry during the day.

Is it worth the money?

Dogness - the world's leading pet smart technology brand and founder of "Pet Smart Ecosystem", arrived in Israel with the official import of the Bug network, and we took for testing Dogness F05, an automatic feeding device for pet food.

This is what we thought of it

Small but satisfying

The device comes in a round and elegant design, with a storage container for food with a capacity of 2 liters that is suitable for small pets.

For our chubby and haughty cat, Jimmy, we had to refill food once every four to five days.

However, Dogness had a bit of a hard time dealing with the size of the dumpling that comes in a more "classic" structure, and the amount that comes out in each extract amounts to a few single dumplings.

The only solution I found - a few clicks to fill the food in a bowl in one single place.

And don't worry, Dogness promises a dual "FRESH LOCK" system that keeps food fresh.

Judging by Jimmy the cat's appetite - this is indeed the case.

Also, in the app (download for Android, download for iOS), I set pre-set meal times - and received an alert for a low amount of food.

The color of the indicator light can also be changed in the settings in the app.

Remote control and application

Most automatic feeders work "stupidly" - and just throw the food out.

This is a slightly smarter product, which knows how to set the weight of the meal according to the breed of cat or dog, and also play a pre-set recording to call the pet that it is time to eat while you are not at home.

I did not find it useful (still, it is a towering cat), but it is an amusing addition.

In addition, in the Dogness app, it is possible to create an entire user profile for the pet - including photo, nickname, breed, age, date of birth and weight.

A nice feature that gives an advantage over other products: you can set a fixed time for automatic filling of food - for example in the late hours of the night when the cat wakes up.

The exact hours of the last fill date can be seen in the list on the main screen.

Bottom line

If you too are in a hurry to get home between long working hours and busy schedules to feed your pet, or are just going on a more than 24 hour vacation - the automatic feeder is a great solution.

If you are less technological people and manage to get by with animal feeding times, this is less for you.

The product is sold in the Bug chain at a price of NIS 420 per container with a capacity of 2 liters, and may be sufficient for small animals (the same product can be purchased with a larger container).
