At the UN Logistics Corps' UN General Practitioner yesterday, they practiced one of the most complex events, the general recruitment of civilian vehicles in time of war. This is what it looks like from the inside

Trucks, tractors, boats and scooters: when the IDF issues order 8 for vehicles

It turns out that vehicles also make reserves, in the IDF's logistics corps there is a United Nations that is responsible for recruiting private vehicles during an emergency to the army.

How is it that the truck gets a reserve order

In the State of Israel, the reserve institution has become an ironclad asset, although it is less present in the public discourse and the number of servants has decreased over the years, but still this month in the year when a bag is loaded on the shoulder and switched to a black coffee-based diet is part of Israeli life.

But what happens when it is not the citizens who are called back to the age of 18, but their vehicles that are asked to be fired (literally) for the war effort?

Meet the United Nations in the Logistics Corps, headed by Lt. Col. Harel Ashram.

The United Nations (Center for Recruitment and Economic Detention) established in 2006 as part of the reorganization of the ATL and consolidated into it the units of the mobilized vehicle that were scattered in the IDF until then, is responsible for recruiting all civilian means required for military operation and operates under the Equipment Registration and Recruitment Law .

If the idea behind the Egged needs to be simplified, then it can be said that much like the same reserve formation designed to reinforce the various units in the army in an emergency, the UN Egged is also responsible for condensing the army's logistical capabilities in situations where they are required. For example, in the last three months, tools were recruited to participate in operational activities in which they replaced "regular" tools that were required to go out for maintenance rounds or routine work. Lt. Col. Ashram does not specify what this is,

And these are not just trucks or engineering tools, but also include boats, planes, ambulances, vans, cranes, forklifts and in fact about two months ago even motorcycles were "recruited" for military police service, "if necessary, we will also recruit an electric scooter," says Lt. Col. Ashram.

The absorption process includes documentation and technical examination of the tools (Photo: IDF Spokesman)

The mechanism behind this system is more complex than it seems at first glance.

Beyond the fact that the military gets access to all the registration and licensing data of all vehicles in the country and based on this list the vehicles are located and adapted to their particular mission, there is also a mechanism of permanent personnel responsible for assigning those vehicles to different units according to their operational requirements. Such a vehicle for a suitable driver or operator which is also like the vehicle is called for reserve.

And above all these there is also a body whose job is to maintain the balance between the civilian and military economy, to prioritize certain tools over others out of the understanding that even in an emergency, the ability to possess the ability to continue civilian life is no less important than the fighting effort.

Part of the enlistment process also includes an explanation for the tool operators, reservists of the United Nations (Photo: IDF Spokesman)

On the day of the exercise held yesterday (Sunday) and was one of the largest held in recent years a very large amount of vehicles was brought, ashram, for obvious reasons does not specify which vehicles, their exact number and also the defined time periods between the moment of reading and stabilization.

He does tell about the enlistment process that each vehicle goes through from the moment it arrives at the staging area and includes detailed documentation of the vehicle in terms of registration, license testing, photography, passing a maintenance tester on the vehicle to verify its suitability for mission and only then handing over the tool to reservists. .

In credit, the process is similar, passing a representative, examining maintenance and if necessary an appraiser and then documenting and returning the vehicle to its owner.

And there is of course the other side, the ones whose trucks or any other vehicles are called to stabilize.

We had a chat with three of them, Gabi Ben Harush, CEO of the New Port Western Galilee Company and Chairman of the Leadership Council, Shlomi Tesker, Operations Manager of "Michael and Michael Leaders Carmiel" and a rival star of the safety and transportation officer of the shipping giant orian.

First stars surprise with a very high score for the very fast absorption process, something that is always strange to hear especially for someone who has ever done reserve.

So I insist and he just repeats the same sentence "I can not find a place where it can be done more organized".

And he probably knows what he's talking about, since orian works quite a bit with the Ministry of Defense also routinely and knows how this huge system works - if there was a problem, he would know how to put his finger on it.

"We are happy to give what we can to the security system, even beyond the business side" - by the way, in recruiting the scooters for the military police we talked about earlier - these were the company's tools that are regularly attached to its truck drivers who showed up for service.

Minors are also not exempt from recruitment (Photo: IDF Spokesman)

Tasker from "Michael and Michael" has a significant role in one of the first missions that come to mind when talking about recruited trucks, out of the company's 50 heavy trucks, 10 of which are used during emergencies as tank carriers, these are by the way the only civilian tools suitable for this mission nationwide.

"Hopefully we will not arrive and we will not have to," he tells me, "but if so, we will be there. This day has strengthened my feeling and the knowledge that the army knows and is able to move from 0 to 100 in a very short time."

Gabi Ben Harush, who by virtue of his position as chairman of the Board of Governors also looks at these events in a broader aspect, also describes things in a similar way: The fact that the army is in business relations with many of the heavy vehicle operators in Israel, whether buses or trucks, contributes a lot to the relations between the army and the car owners who need to be recruited

. License E (tow-supporter, or semi-trailer - KK) Both in the army and in civilian life, I asked for a temporary order to order the IDF that drivers who are released from it, complete the certification for license E, which will also allow not to rely on populations who will not always be comfortable enlisting in the service "IDF when necessary."

Incidentally, inconvenience to enlist, what came up and repeated for all participants in the exercise was the complete support for the IDF call. Worth a great deal of money - companies and individuals who are asked to put these tools in place have a record motivation to do so.

And this is not only because of the monetary reward and also not because of the statutory penalty of 18 months and a fine.

"To date, we have not encountered any refusals

," says Lt. Col. Ashram, "neither I nor my predecessor in the job."

In your place of reserve, who knows, maybe it will work.
