For the past week, the adult emergencies of the Pellegrin hospital have only received, between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m., patients who have called the Samu.
Pediatric emergencies and maternity continue to operate normally.
This filtering at the entrance makes it possible, according to the ARS Nouvelle-Aquitaine, to regulate the influx of patients to treat only the most serious cases and respond to the shortage of caregivers in the service.
The threat had been hovering for several months: according to the Bordeaux University Hospital, 70% of the medical staff is present in the adult emergency room of the Pellegrin hospital.
Night shifts are done with two doctors, against the usual three.
Pierre Catoire, representative of the Urgences Bordeaux collective, estimates that half of the doctors and a third of nurses are missing to be complete in the service.
