In Amsterdam, a Tesla driver has been blocking a charging station for eight weeks - and has parked for free as a result.

Apparently he is not in trouble because of this.

Amsterdam – The number of electric cars on the streets is increasing and increasing.

The charging infrastructure is not growing at the same pace everywhere: The German Association of the Automotive Industry complained that the expansion was too slow, and there are particularly few fast charging stations along the motorways.

In general, there is a lot of upheaval when it comes to charging: At Aldi Süd, for example, e-car drivers will no longer be able to draw electricity free of charge.

“Wrong parking” at charging stations is also a nuisance for e-car drivers – a problem that Tesla is already fighting with a special solution in China.

In Amsterdam, however, a Tesla driver is causing a stir: he is blocking a charging station with his Stromer – and has been for eight weeks.

A resident from the district of Niew Sloten therefore complained to the municipality about the long-term parker, as "NH Nieuws" reports.

According to the report, the owner had docked his Tesla at the charging station (not a Tesla supercharger) eight weeks ago and then apparently went on vacation.

The cobwebs on the vehicle and charging cable should prove that the Model 3 has really been there for so long.

However, the municipality does not see a problem in the long-term parking Tesla: According to the report, there is no time limit for parking at a charging station in Amsterdam (like in Munich, for example, where you can park there for a maximum of four hours with a parking disc).

There is also “a large network of charging stations” in the city.

The complainant cannot understand the reaction of the municipality: "Anyone who parks here on the sidewalk has to pay a fine of 150 euros," she quotes "NH Nieuws".

However, if you hang onto a charging station, you can get around it.

The story of the long-term parker is also heating up tempers on Facebook, as the comments on the report show:

  • "It's antisocial."

  •  "I want to know where he works with 8 weeks vacation and a Tesla."

  • "There's nothing a sledgehammer can't solve."

  • "Fits well with the anti-social era we live in."

  • "Definitely not a fast charging station."

  • "I think his car is loaded now."

  • “Free parking in Amsterdam.

    Astonishing."

  • "Outrageous."
