Two men in their thirties were shot dead Thursday and another was slightly injured in Martinique, bringing the number of gun homicides on the island to 12 since the start of the year.

Called for shots fired in a residential area of ​​Rivière-Salée, the gendarmes discovered Thursday evening "two dead bodies: one inside the applicant's house", said the prosecution in a press release. press, "another in front of this one".

This double homicide comes just two days after the death of a man in his thirties, shot dead in a Fort-de-France nightclub on Wednesday morning.

In this context, the prefect of Martinique, the commander of the island's gendarmerie and the deputy prosecutor went to the scene of the murder perpetrated on Thursday evening.

Weapons seized every other day

According to the prosecution, the two victims "were each hit by at least four impacts" and a dozen projectiles were found on the spot.

An autopsy should identify them.

The gendarmerie is carrying out investigations to identify the perpetrators, on the run.

"It's a usually quiet neighborhood where it's good to live, so the inhabitants are a bit in shock," said Jean-Jacques Soutarson, security assistant for the city of Rivière-Salée.
