MG, the famous British brand which, after the closure of the Rover Group's activities in 2005, became the property of the Chinese group Saic Motor in 2007, strengthens its position in the electric model market with the new Mulan crossover, unveiled a few hours ago with a global event via the web.

This new model - named after Hua Mulan, a Chinese folk heroine who embodies the values of strength, courage and 'being herself' - derives from the previous Mg CyberE and Mg4 and was developed with global markets in mind using the new Nebula platform designed exclusively for fully electric models.

At the front, Mg Mulan features a shark-like nose section, with separate three-piece headlights and a muscular bumper coupled with vertically positioned air intakes.

The whole is made even more sporty and dynamic by the front spoiler with a very noticeable lip.

At the rear, the Y-shaped lighting extends almost the entire width of the car, but includes the classic Mg logo in the center.

Particularly original is the spoiler on the rear part of the roof, which is divided - as occurs in some types of racing cars - into two elements with wide supports.

4,287 mm long, 1,836 mm wide and 1,516 mm high Mg Milan has a wheelbase of 2,705 mm and is equipped with a 150 kW UAES electric motor, powered by a ternary battery pack from Ningde E-Con Power System Co.,

Ltd which is indirectly supported by Saic Motor.

It uses a rear-wheel drive layout and sprints from a standstill to 62mph in 3.8 seconds.

Mg Milan is equipped with the 'zero thermal track' system to prevent it from catching fire or a thermal runaway accident.

It will also offer cells that Mg calls 'recumbent LBS' that promise higher energy density and allow for a slimmer battery pack and thus maximizing space in the cabin.
