“hamlet at the North Pole”

This is the pretty expression proposed by Romain Troublé, General Manager of the Tara Ocean Foundation, to present a somewhat crazy project, but one that has been carefully considered for five years.
To go further than the polar drift feat of the schooner
Tara
in 2007, the foundation launched a floating research center in the heart of the North pole for 500-day missions.
The first should begin in 2025, the second is expected two years later and so on over twenty years.
As the Arctic Ocean is more and more often freed by ice during the summer, it will be a question of installing a new observatory there, a "sentinel" to follow the evolution of the Earth's climate and biodiversity. which will be trapped in the ice in winter.
