Five former members of the GUD were sentenced on Wednesday in Paris to prison terms for the 2015 attack on their former leader Édouard Klein.

Almost seven years after this attack, Loïk Le Priol, 27, Romain Bouvier, 31, and three other men, aged 25 to 32, all ex-members of the GUD (Union Defense Group) were sentenced on Wednesday by the Paris Criminal Court for aggravated violence to sentences of 24 months suspended to five years including two years suspended.

The quintet appeared before the fourteenth chamber for beating and humiliating the ex-head of the organization, Édouard Klein, on the night of October 8 to 9, 2015 in his Paris apartment.

Two of his men, Loïk Le Priol and Romain Bouvier, hit the headlines last March.

They are suspected of having shot dead on the boulevard Saint-Germain in Paris, the ex-rugby player, Federico Martin Aramburu, 42 years old.

All defendants banned from carrying a weapon for five years

For the facts of 2015, the first was sentenced to 5 years, two of which were suspended, and the second to five years, including 24 months, suspended.

Logan Djan, the leader of the group, was given a five-year prison sentence, three of which were suspended.

And the court issued warrants of committal for those three.

All defendants were banned from carrying a weapon for five years.

The prosecutor had requested sentences of 4 years in prison against Loïk Le Priol, 5 years against Romain Bouvier and Logan Djian, the new leader of the organization, and 5 years including 3 suspended for the other two men.

The magistrate had insisted on the premeditated nature of this act of violence by recalling that during a video shot shortly before the facts these men evoked a large fine against Édouard Klein.

Slaps, punches and kicks

That evening, Logan Djian, flanked by Le Priol, Bouvier and two other men landed at Édouard Klein.

Logan Djian criticizes him for calling him a snitch.

Le Priol and Bouvier are angry with him for hitting two young women.

And all accuse him of consuming cocaine and of having brought this drug within the group.

Klein takes slaps, punches and kicks.

His attackers force him to undress to humiliate him and force him to dance the macarena before leaving the premises.

Result: triple jaw fracture and psychological trauma.

In front of the judges, only a lawyer pleaded the release for his client who assures that he did not participate in the facts.

The others evoked a group effect and refuted any premeditation.

They described a bunch of bad boys who have evolved over the past seven years cutting all ties with this far-right group.

In its judgment, the correctional chamber considered that "these premeditated facts were revenge intended to wash away their honor and ego wounds".

The five defendants will have to pay 29,000 euros in damages to Édouard Klein and his lawyer.
