The project, which reunites original stars Tony Danza and Alyssa Milano, has been adopted for development by Amazon's free streaming service, Amazon Freevee, which is not available in Israel.

Danza and Milan are set to return to their roles as Tony Mislow and his daughter Samantha, in a plot that takes place 30 years after the events of the original series.

The sequel series will focus on the relationship between the father and his daughter.

Samantha will play a single mother living in the family home in the series.

In the spirit of the original series, the sequel series will deal with generational differences, opposing views as well as different types of parenting in modern family dynamics in 2022.

Already two years ago the planning for a sequel series was announced.

It is produced by Norman Nir, and its writing and production is signed by Mike Royce, who co-created and produced the Netflix series "Everyday Again," alongside producer Brigitte Muñoz-Leibowitz, and will be filmed at Sony Studios, which owns the rights to the original series.

The series "Who's the Boss?"

The original aired for eight seasons and 196 episodes on ABC, between 1984 and 1992, and was nominated for ten Emmy Awards.

In Israel, it was broadcast every Saturday night on Channel One and gained great popularity.

When she came up in the 1980s she introduced a relatively new feminist idea in sitcoms at the time - placing the man (Tony) as a housekeeper who takes care of his maintenance and also raising the children and a woman (Angela Bauer, played by Judith Lite) as a successful career woman.

The name of the series, "Who's the Boss?", Referred to the reversal of stereotypical roles.

Also starring in the series were Danny Pintauro as the boy Jonathan Bauer, and Katherine Helmond as Monet, Angela's mother, the extraordinary grandmother who covets men.

Helmond passed away in early 2019.

Danza starred in the American version of Netflix for the Israeli series "The Good Cop".

Milan has starred in the series "Enchanted" and "Mistresses", among other things, and is responsible for making the hashtag #MeToo go viral.
