Many people switching to electric cars take the government purchase premium into account.
That could prove to be an expensive mistake.
The purchase of an electric car is currently turning into a
nerve-wracking stalemate
.
In view of the long delivery times for new cars, many buyers do not know whether their Stromer will arrive with them this year.
A delay would not only have an impact on personal mobility, but probably also on the wallet.
Electric car: is the subsidy premium about to end?
Because state funding, the so-called innovation bonus of up to 6,000 euros (plus 3,570 euros gross from the manufacturer) is only guaranteed if the electric car is
registered this year
.
How high the premium will be afterwards is currently completely open.
While Federal Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) is planning a reduction, Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) has even brought a complete deletion into play.
Electric car: ADAC and VDIK criticize prank discussion
However, this radical solution has met with
massive criticism
, for example from the Association of International Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (VDIK).
"For good reason, in order to achieve the national climate targets, the governing parties in the coalition agreement announced the further development and continuation of the purchase bonus for electric cars until 2025," said VDIK President Reinhard Zirpel: "The manufacturers of e-vehicles and their customers rely on it .
An abrupt end to the e-car premium would therefore mean a serious breach of trust.”
The
ADAC is also protesting
.
"Many consumers have already ordered an electric vehicle against the background of the subsidy," reports Transport President Gerhard Hillebrand.
His fear: the buyers will get nothing because the vehicle will be delivered late.

Electric car: Buyers are unsure
The discussion about an end to the purchase premiums is currently leading to
massive uncertainty
, according to VDIK President Zirpel.
In fact, many prospective buyers include the premium in their purchase decision and are now hesitating.
For many models, the bonus pretty much balances out the difference between the electric car and a comparable combustion engine.

It also leads to some very attractive leasing offers.
They only work if the buyer makes a
down payment of 6,000 euros
– which he gets back after the Stromer has been approved.
Until recently, however, only a few manufacturers gave a guarantee for timely delivery, but this is now hardly the norm.
The buyers were then left alone with the additional costs.
