The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Orit Farkash HaCohen, announced today (Monday) the appointment of Prof. Dan Bloomberg to the position of Chairman of the Advisory Committee to the Israel Space Agency in the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology. The appointment was approved by the Ministry of Justice.



Bloomberg is Vice President of Regional and Industrial Development at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, holds a Ph.D.



The appointment to the position, which is voluntary, was made in accordance with the government's decision on the subject, which stipulates that the chairman of the Israel Space Agency is required to be a reputable scientist in the field of space.

Prof. Dan Bloomberg is Vice President of Regional and Industrial Development at Ben Gurion University of the Negev, and holds a Ph.D. from the University of Arizona in the field of planetary geology.

He heads the Remote Sensing and Planetary Imaging Laboratory, which serves as one of NASA's regional laboratories. For the aerospace industry for the construction of BGUSAT, an Israeli nano-satellite that is still moving in space and serves as a member of the International Academy of Astronautics.
